DS0087 Upgrade if using travel Voucher

DS0087 Upgrade if using travel Voucher
I would like to use up a travel voucher I have from US airways but have been told that if I use it I won't be able to use the DB0087 upgrade vouchers for any paid tickets.
The terms do say it can't be used with Travel Credits/Vouchers.
Has anyone got any experience of trying to use a DS0087 voucher on a ticket where they have used a travel credit to cover part of the cost.
Otherwise I either lose the vouchers or the upgrade and given the upgrades might not happen I am loathed not to use the $150 cert but equally not looking forward to back of the plane if the rule is well enforced?
Experiences appreciated.
