March 2011 - ual.com now allowing online booking of LH awards

Just checked.... We can now redeem LH flights online!

The matrix shows how many seats available per class. This is nice! Thanks, United!

Thanks

Just tried to redeem miles on LH. Did not pull up any LH flights, even after I clicked on Star Alliance. Checked a few dates and those were not showing up. Perhaps a glitch?

I wish you luck, but unless you are a M&M member, I don't think you're going to have any success finding any F awards on LH for SFO-FRA-SFO this summer if LH operates the A380 on this route as planned.

Just did a search for SFO-MUC-SFO and compared to availability on NH. There are awards showing on NH for nonstop in F on certain dates, but those do not show up on UA's award search (and yes, I did check for Star Allliance awards). There were routings on LH via other gateways, and routings through LHR on UA and then LH to MUC, but either *net blocked on the nonstop SFO-MUC or the website still has kinks to work out.

Let me know if anyone spots any F award seats on this route out of curiosity.

This is GREAT news! I booked an intra-europe one-way on the phone last year while I was a 1K, but this is nice to have online to check for seats (obviously), but also to book.

It also shows the same results (with my limited experience thus far of course) as ITA on some odd routes (BKK-SGN), so that's good news as well.

I'm looking forward to try this out even more

Maybe they can load OZ and NZ and TG?!?

Well you won't be getting LH F since the flight is operated by the A380.

Not sure what you mean by the "matrix." All I see is that if seats are available for the exact dates I pick, then it shows the flights; otherwise, nothing. No flexible date searches.

Am I missing somethign?

This is great! Hopefully they will eventually work out the kinks and have this award search tool made as good as CO's.

ual.com now allowing online booking of LH awards

Doubt I'm the first to discover this (but I searched for other posts), but just noticed that online award searching/booking now includes LH flights. Could the ANA tool turn into the UAL tool when other *A options come aboard?

I dont know if this is a positive.... There are thousands of MP members out there that dont even know about Star Alliance... This will only increase demand for transatlantic seats....

Although CO has had LH online for months (with many others), so it may not be so bad.

The sort of people who don't know about *A are probably the same people who would phone to book an award, in which case they'd be offered *A anyway.
