Yes, but not until after it was obvious how badly Houston had been hit. They kept expanding the waiver incrementally as the effects came into focus.

It looks like the waiver only applies for flights rebooked prior to 30 Sept, but I have other trips before the end of the month and can't possibly go until October.
I was going to ask them to reschedule me in October, hopefully without a change fee and fare increase. If they won't do that, I wonder if they will give me travel voucher to use a t a later date. Part of my ticket was paid for with a travel voucher, and I want to make sure I get a voucher that includes the whole amount. Any ideas?
Small world!!! I have EXACTLY the same situation. Sept 12-16, but SFO-MIA rather than FLL. I am wondering just like you if they will extend the date for rescheduling.

Called again today and a very nice agent waved the change fee and canceled the reservation. HUCA works!

Called 1K line, then were willing to rebook at no change fee or price difference if flown prior to sept 30. I opted for a travel credit for full value good for one year.
When looking at the cancelled reservation on the website, it doesn't show anything besides the pnr and destination. No value is shown.
I was told to just call and use the pnr for full value anywhere they fly.

Always looking for positive PR, here is what UA is asking for MIA-DEN flight....

I guess she should be happy it is not a BE fare...

p.s. plus other "flier friendly" fares pictured.

Why does airlines not fall under the rules as other things during disasters? It's against the law to overcharge for water, food, gas, etc. Even hotels have a cap what they can charge a night.

Not worried about the storm being in the way. Now I'm just worried that MCO will reopen on Wednesday 9/13

I'll ask anyway - is that good or bad?
