This thread is for reporting of actual cases of receiving status when short of one of the status requirement and not qualified for a waiver of that requirement -- PQS/PQM/PQD/4 Segments/....

Previous years reports
Granted 2016 MP Elite Status even though short of PQM/PQS/PDQ [actual cases only pls]
Granted 2015 MP Elite Status even though short of PQM/PQS/PDQ [actual cases only pls]

For others that are short and wonder what to do or if they will be lucky, please see
Will UA Grant 2017 EliteStatus if I am XXX PQM/PQS/{PQD} Short of Qualifying in 2016? &
Will UA Grant 2016 EliteStatus if I am XXX PQM/PQS/{PQD} Short of Qualifying in 2015? &
[Consolidated] "I need XXX UA PQD's/PQMs in 2015 for Elite Status in 2016"]

Let's keep this thread focused on those actually granted status, short of the normal requirements, other posts will be moved to a more appropriate thread.

Another data point in support of the "it's all about spending" notion: I ended 2016 with 46,613 PQM, 39.5 PQS, and a bit over $13,000 PQD. Checked in for my first flight of 2017 a few days ago and it said Gold on my ticket, no request or inquiry on my part.

And you were not Gold in 2016? So status bumped up?

I'm a 1K for 2016 and I was short almost 9k miles to 1K for 2017 but had $20k spend and over $30k in 2015 and United still gave me 1K status.

I emailed customer care initially to ask about whether I could still qualify for 1K and they said when they checked that United corporate already approved it.

no status in 2016. United bumped me to Silver with 20,642 PQM & $8500 PQD for 2017 in Early January. thanks to one round trip D fare from EWR to GVA! My other RT was K&G fare to CA.. I also hold Chase United MP CC if it makes any difference.

That was my thought, their 2106 status is valid until 31 Jan 17. So of course they will show up with 2106 status in Ja 17.

Ah, I see the confusion. I started 2016 with no status. Hit Silver in August but didn't travel quite as much in the second half of the year as I did the first, so I finished the year just short of Gold. Fortunately I had a last-minute round-trip TATL in D that accounted for about 50% of my PQD for the year.

Gold to Platinum

I lost my job in February of 2016 but I managed to earn 53,681 PQM and $5,377 PQD. Also, I qualified for the $25,000 Chase card waiver (I spent about $33,000). I have been United 1K for the past 4 years so I decided to give United a call and they decided to bump me from Premier Gold to Premier Platinum for 2017. Thanks United!
