Interesting, looks like it was over the Pacific and turned back. Any idea what happened?

UM, how about LAX-SRO-EWR @:-)

I'd do it, but of course I'm not you.

Not sure if this is new...but on N590UA (a p.s. pmUA 752) and noted a couple things:

-the inflight map is updated with the new software that is on the 77W
-the monitors look new - perhaps the systems were replaced / updated?
-the really annoying automated seat belt announcement is present (I don't recall this being on any pmUA birds, but I might be misremembering)

Pretty sure the pmUA 752s had the annoying seatbelt announcement put in when they were fitted with the sCO seats - I had a pretty bumpy ps redeye last year where the announcement was going off all night... at least channel 9 was on for that flight which is why I still remember it.

I was under the impression that new deliveries ended with simple U

Or is it to keep commonality with existing numbering?

Used A319s follow the current Airbuses in the fleet (NxxxUA) 77Ws were to use the CO method (Nxxxxx) but was switched to what UA used on DC10s, 747-200s, 727-200s (NxxxxU) shortly before the first one was delivered).

I was on a "new" A319 this week N894UA, worth nothing a few physical observations.
  • New United branded entryway and bulkheads with premium coverings
  • Coat hooks have slots for each seat prenumbered, included hooks for Row 3 (not present on A319)
  • New design carpeting
  • "Ding Dong" sound slightly different from sUA original Airbus
  • Doors 1L/1R, Panels around galley & cockpit area in a beige hue, not quite the same as sUA original Airbus
  • I didn't get to a lav, so no info on unique attributes there.

My tray table smelled like a new car. LOL.

Nice to see the new bulkhead in service a few years after being announced, after dozen(s) of aircraft were delivered in the interim without it!

Any info on the mystery 8 other 77W's? Did United get them or is it still not public?

nothing yet. i'm thinking if it's announced this week, it'll be at the same time the 737 order conversion to the 737-10 order is announced.

some 737-10 specs were released today by boeing, with HEAVY spin. on another slide discussing the purported 5% less fuel burn per seat vis-à-vis the A321neo, the 321 was equipped with an optional aux fuel tank for an 800nm sample route (obviously adding needless weight to the A321 and making the 737 appear better in comparison).

bottom line, the guppy -10 will be a complete dog with poor paxex, but a CASM king on many domestic-length routes. in other words, right up UA's alley.

So more like the 739s that everyone loves to hate on here?

Well, one thing for sure, the Max 10 won't be replacing the 757 on short TATL routes anytime soon, what with a 3200nm max range.

What I want to know is how the 737-10 has a 99.7% on time percentage
