UA *G's are not granted UC access on domestic tickets, paid or award.

No, but you can use Star Alliance partner clubs, like the DTW Lufthansa Senator Lounge.

I'm flying domestic out of EWR. UA clubs there seem to have stopped accepting Lounge Club cards as well. It seems like there's no way in unless I'm in F or international award.

Huh? Neither 1K status nor domestic F has ever been a basis for UC access on a domestic itinerary (except for ps). You either need to be a UC member or have access based on an international itinerary.

If you get denied as a UC member, I would be letting UA know about the issue. UC members should have the most guaranteed of access versus any other groups having access. If this happened to you -- complain, it was a anomaly.

I had no access issues at EWR UCs in 2014.

Hello folks, good news: Just cleared an upgrade HKG-SFO (as a lowly 1K)for this month to BusinessFirst. The reservation says "You need to contact reservations"… is that normal?

yes -- the reservation needs to be re-sync'ed. It will eventually clear up on its own but it may prevent seat changes or other upgrades in the meantime. Most agents can clear up the issue in 30 seconds

Duly noted. I thought you could get lounge access with an F/J ticket, even if domestic.

I don't have UC, I mistakenly said Lounge Club, by which I meant Priority Pass. EWR UCs are on PP's website, but all the UC have a sign at the counter saying they do not accept PP.

The AMEX sponsored PP is not accepted -- that stopped 3-4 years ago. They may be individual purchased versions that work but I think it is only the top tier (if at all anymore). Additional in times of crowding, the agents may restrict certain categories from access.

For more on UC access see wiki of http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...2012-14-a.html

The priority Pass web site says you have access to a few UC's in Newark but they also have the following caveat.

Note: Members holding a Priority Pass Select membership card and Priority Pass cardholders in the U.S. that receive their membership through a U.S. financial institution will not be allowed access to this Lounge.

Booked an award flight SFO-ORD-CDG for wife (gold) and daughter in C class. C was available for ORD-CDG but not SFO-ORD. Still paid the C class price in miles.

Are they automatically put on upgrade list for SFO-ORD? What if award space opens up between now and departure? Any strategies here? Thanks!

Assuming you booked I/IN, you should ask to be waitlisted for I (Domestic F).
You are not looking or asking for an upgrade -- you are asking to be accommodated in the cabin you booked.
