Cleveland UC a few weeks ago DID require login.

Sigh... yet another thing to make my day more complicated. My phone does not work with many of these log-in super high security authenticating systems.

Dunno.
I haven't heard of this since the initial days of the merger. IIRC, ID was required to get into the Presidents Club but that went away with the unification. I've noticed that some Lounge Agents have a particular hatred towards mobile boarding pass. An agent in IAH a few weeks ago asked if I had a paper BP when I gave her my phone and then sighed when I did not.

If they are going to ask for ID for a certain type of BP they should really do it for paper one since they can be more easily shared (aka, print several copies and give one to each of your coworkers for UC Access). Sure you can screen shot a mobile BP and email, but I think the effort (for most folks) to do that is higher than to photocopy.

My guess is it was just a bored agent looking for more to do.

What kinda phone do you have? If it's running iOS or any of the more recent Android flavors it should be just fine.

I have an HTC Wizard running Android 2.2.3 and using Opera web browser. Rarely works with authentication systems, saying their certificates are out of date.

That's because they often are. In many/most browsers you can just bypass the prompt (I know you can in Crome for example) and continue on with the out of date certificate. I haven't really used Opera so I don't know if you can there or not.

Still no login at IAH, but thankfully no cheese cubes either!

No login at EWR C Club (over the food court) today. No ID required either, scan of boarding pass was sufficient. But can report that they have added an automated coffee/latte/espresso machine by the bar. Seems to be similar to the ones I've seen in the IAD Clubs.

They are rolling out the requirement slowly across the clubs. Some have it and some do not.

There are scant few lounges outside the USA at which one has access without a BP for a same-day *A-operated flight: NRT, MEL, PTY, HKG, EZE, GRU, GUM & MEX. Any other access with that card requires a *A BP.

There used to be a whole lot more UA lounges internationally, in cities like FRA & LHR. The times it hurts is if either you wanted to use it as an arrivals lounge or if you are continuing on a non *A flight (you had inbound access to a UA lounge but generally no access granted to *A lounge if you don't have a same-day onward flight)

DL testing some premium upgrades to club

...better to compete w/Amex CL and surpassing AA, cementing UA position as laggard (nicest way to put it, imho)

Email received today:

Dear ****

As part of our continued investment in improving your Delta Sky Club experience, select Club locations will be testing new premium products and services from mid-February through late April.

You're invited to come by and enjoy these new options, and then provide your feedback via an in-club survey.

The items that receive the most positive customer reviews will be included as part of a product investment upgrade in Clubs this summer. Here's a sneak peek at some of the products and services you may experience*:

More food options, including pancakes and upgraded bagels for breakfast, sandwiches and hot soups mid-day, and hors d'oeuvres, antipasti and dessert choices in the evening

Nourishing snack choices, including energy bars, fresh fruit, popcorn, nuts and smoothies

Select complimentary services, including shoe shines, manicures and relaxing chair massages- perfect for a busy day of travel

In addition, based on your feedback, we will immediately upgrade the current complimentary vodka offered across all Clubs to Finlandia Vodka.

Stop by the test Club locations in Atlanta (Gate A17 and Concourse F locations), Dallas/Fort Worth, Detroit (across from Gate A38), Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, New York/LaGuardia (Terminal D location), Raleigh/Durham and Seattle to try some of these new premium offerings.

We value your feedback as we work to improve your Club experience.

Wonder for how much of a "premium" for those "premium products and services." If the price hike/guest rules change wasn't enough...
