What? You don't find cubed cheese worth the $500 membership fee?

I was in the UC last week at IAH and watched someone dump the entire tray of cheese into his bag and run out of the club before I could say anything. I was more or less in the state of shock. Unfortunately he wasn't the only one as I saw people grab 20+ packs of cheese at a time (about three of them and they grabbed other things. I was just watching the cheese cause it was I front of me. This was in a span of an hour.

Now, I'm lactose intolerant so I don't care much about cheese. However, if this was just an hour, I can't imagine a whole day. I can see how having these cheese cubes is less sanitary but it would help to curb the abuse!!!

A day of contrasts....

Morning visit to the wonderfully staffed and decorated SEA club and a welcome face I hadn't seen in a long time - then I am presented with some strange donut thing, or fake bagels, or I can select from Smisek's Tower 'O Treats (or as it's known to diabetics, Smisek's Tower of Death).

90 minutes later, I'm seated in the domestic Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge where I'm presented with two soups (cream of cauliflower, or a delicious chile), 4 kinds of sandwiches, 2 salad choices, hummus, salsa, two kinds of chips, dessert mini-brownies and cookies.

Air Canada isn't exactly rolling in big money, yet they are apparently capable of supporting a quality lounge product at their hub airports, something no US carrier is willing or able to do (and I don't see people here shoving food in their pockets).

SFO UC on Friday - looks like only vanilla yogurt now, no fruit flavors. Surely fruit flavored yogurt doesn't cost more?

I love not giving a crap about sports. The BOS lounge is deserted today and they're comping all drinks for the half dozen people here.

The flavor now matches the overall UA experience

Today in IAD the UC Entitlement Agent asked for my ID with my mobile BP. I said "when did that change?" She said, "Today".

Dunno.

Perhaps people have learned how to spoof mobile boarding passes?

RNE, I'm sure there's an app for that!

What's incredible is the MLL membership is cheaper than a UC membership. You can buy a MLL + UC membership via AC for $5 less than a UC via UA ($495 vs. 500).

Umm...that's an awful analogy. The United Club membership gives worldwide Access without needing.a same day ticket. Closest for comparison is the $665 option. Of course the $500 for UC is still at least $200 too much.

Whatever happened to the login requirement? My device automatically connected to the United Club SSID in PHX a couple of weeks ago instead of Sky a Harbors WiFi. Last week I used a one-time pass at SFO UC and used the HNL club in conjunction with an Intl ticket - neither one asked for a password.
