The Fleet Status site is:

https://sites.google.com/site/unitedfleetsite/

At the site, you can find information about the interior features, livery, etc., for every plane in United's fleet.

To determine which plane your flight will be on go to mobile.united.com and then click on flight status. Put in the flight number for your flight and just have it use today's date (occasionally it'll say flight not operated on this date in which case just choose one of the other 3 dates it lists). In the address bar you'll see something like this:

mobile.united.com/FlightStatus/FlightDetails?carrierCode=UA&flightNumber=415&flig htDate=9%2F15%2F2015&origin=JFK&destination=SFO

https://mobile.united.com/FlightStatus/FlightDetails?carrierCode=UA&flightNumber=415&flig htDate=9%2F15%2F2015&origin=JFK&destination=SFO

Just change the flight date to match the day of your scheduled flight and then change the origin / destination as necessary. Once you do that look in the details tab under aircraft # and if they have assigned a plane it'll say something like #3506 and the type of plane. Once you know that go to the United Fleet website listed above and cross-reference the four digit number against the "aircraft" column under the appropriate aircraft type.

Keep in mind that things change as they get closer and sometimes either they won't have assigned an aircraft yet or it'll be assigned #0 if it's a few days away and they are anticipating aircraft movement.

You may also check the specific fleet variant of each flight at the United Cargo site under "Schedules & tracking". This data tends to be reliable starting 7 days in advance, but is always subject to change.

end of an era. I'm surprised N665UA was still wearing rising blue so well, found a few pictures from this year and it looks pretty good. Kind of makes me wish they would treat it as a retrojet (although I'd take a retrojet in rainbow (original tulip) livery any day, plus I'd rather they be domestic). At that rate lets get a meatball retrojet in here (I vote it goes on a 739 - they feel like a meatball with wings on takeoff anyway).

Does anyone know where the two used 737-700s are coming from or where they will be prepped for UA service? With all the 752 retirements I'm surprised they aren't buying used A320s.

I saw 665 at ORD, and like you, I was surprised at how good it looked.

And I've warmed to the new paint - the grey and white seems to hold a cleaner look longer than a fresh painted blue and white did. Now if they'd just replace the bingo cage with a tulip......

John Rainey indicated they were being acquired from lessors. Which could mean anything from a repo, to another airlines "right-sizing" their fleet. all the way to a company who ended (for whatever reason) a lease on a airframe.

FWIW, there are 4 used 737-700's listed on Boeing's available list, they appear to be from TK's off shoot Anadolu and one from WS (not suggesting these are the planes UA is getting... just that this airframe is available in a secondary market).

I'm not, the 737-700 is more comparable to the A319, and while those are widely available as well, I think the narrow-body fleet will be back to all Boeing under the SMI/J regime.

But also, for whatever reason, maybe the 319's (or whatever other offerings) didn't make economic sense. Because there are also 738's and 739's available in the secondary market, maybe the current value or terms of the lease are more attractive on the 737-700's?

It has been rumored that the 2 73G are coming from Copa, who is more interested in 738s than 73Gs. HP1369CMP and HP1370CMP are both leased by Volito Aviation and would appear to be the most likely candidates and built for Tombo Aviation. They were built in 1999 and have winglets and look to be in the same configuration prior to Economy plus removal of one row on sCO aircraft.

The 73G in E+ config has 10 fewer seats than the 319, but more capable for longer flights and could be more or less fuel efficient.
73G: 12F/40E+/66Y=118
319: 8F/42E+/78Y=128

I would love to see more retrojets in pre-merger UA (tulip) and old school CO (meatball) colors. There's no reason not to continue to honor the proud history of both carriers.
