Yes, the issues were fixed years ago.

The wing cracks have not all been fixed "years ago" and are still in work.

And you base that statement on....? EASA approved the final AD fix back in, what, 2013, didn't they? I feel perfectly safe on an A380, but the 787 scares me outright. I fully expect those things to start falling out of the sky when they start hitting the 5 year service mark.

The fix is still ongoing.

The problem was not significant enough to warrant urgent action, and thus the airlines were given time to implement it.

I think additional inspections may have been mandated until the fix was implemented.

I am in the industry, I know. And although it was not an urgent fix, it wasn't an easy one either. The aircraft are on the ground for an extended period of time.

And you base this statement on....? The 787 is a fine airplane with no special issues related to it.

Jury is still out on that - issues have been reported, and although many wil be hyped to make a story, there's no smoke without fire (787 related pun intended).

So any better prospects with the announcement of the A380 Plus?

More discomfort for Y passengers from 80 more seats but does it change the economic viability of the product?

Can you elaborate why the A380 is shut out of these markets? I can think of maybe one route you've listed where range might be an issue.

Maybe the A380 costs more per passenger?

Or maybe the airlines think with the greater capacity of the A380, it might push average fare prices down or they fear the average percentage of seats sold would be lower on the A380?

Most of the routes i listed are US-Asia routes as that is what I familiar with. I also fly United most often and have status with them.

All that said flying back and forth to Asia I can typically get low fares and easy upgrades to business class, this leads me to believe Business seat sales are slow as they would NEVER give me a seat for "free" (GPU) if they could sell it. rarely have I seen a full plane in Y other than typical tourist times and tourists isn't what keep the airplanes flying.

Now, all of a sudden you swap out a 777 for a A380, you go from roughly 300 seats to 500 seats, but same number of flights. Plus you go from roughly 50 business seats to 85 business seats, which you couldn't sell otu the 50, not sure how you could sell out the 85.

I know, we will lower prices no one else will think of that....

Until there is 40% more people flying to Asia, there is no reason to have 40% more seats per airplane.
