Will Thai check a bag to a stop, not through to final destination?

I'm flying back from Bangkok in a few weeks on Thai to Narita, ANA to Houston, and United to my cowtown Midwest home.

Will Thai check my bag to Houston so I can retrieve it to check some duty free after customs? I don't want to play with TSA and their stupid games regarding duty free liquids.

Thanks

Not a TG issue

You must always claim your checked luggage when entering the US. This is the same procedure for all airlines.
Then you will pass thru US customs.
Then you can re-check luggage to your domestic flight(s).
So yes; you will have the opportunity to possess your luggage before re-check.

That is also my experience; even you check through to final destination.
First destination in USA you have to claim luggage and walk through the customs and then put it on the belt or check it in

Lol... I vaguely remember this now returning on my first trip. Since I've been doing only carry on and It has been so long since I checked bags when traveling international i forgot all about it.

Thanks for the reminder!
