Aloft Seattle Sea-Tac Airport [Master Thread]
So I was looking to have an alternative to the dreadful Four Points Seattle Sea-Tac (it doubles as a casino too with homeless people roaming the hallways...it actually happened during my stay there) and I saw that the Aloft Seattle Sea-Tac is supposed to open Feb 1 according to the SPG website. When I try to book a room, there is nothing available until March 1. Is this normal for a new hotel opening or is there anything special I can do in order to get a reservation for early Feb? I would much rather stay somewhere new near Sea Tac. I have a 6 am flight so really looking to stay near the airport while still earning SPG nights or else I would stay at the much nicer SPG hotels downtown.

Despite the "No Prostitution Zone" signs as one approaches the area, I have never felt unsafe the couple of times I stayed at the FP. More that besides a McDonald's and fast food Mexican joint there's nothing much nearby for a traveler. The hotel itself was safe enough, though rooms are quite sterile. Had to get SPG to add missing incidentals points here each time. Not particularly recommended.

I just stayed here over the weekend. The property itself is OK. Only about 1 mile to the airport. The shuttle back to the airport runs at :15 and :45, 24 hours per day. Room size is tiny and not so soundproof. I wouldn’t bother to stay here unless you are aiming for the spg platinum status.

Y'all are making me nervous. I used pts to reserve one night for a 14 hr layover at SeaTac. I likes the idea of a close hotel with a shuttle. It's a long 2 days of travel and I probably won't do anything but grab a quick dinner and crash. I need a reliable shuttle to catch a very early flight. Will I be able to grab something for breakfast at 4 a.m. or am I better off heading straight to the airport? Thanks for the help.

The new Aloft is located in the other direction not directly on International Blvd, surrounded by some $40 "motor inn" type hotels known for some questionably activities. Definitely not an area where I would feel comfortable at night and with absolutely nothing but some parking lots and a 7-11. I understand the relevant authorities are trying to spruce up the area and change the reputation, but honestly I'm scratching my head a bit at Starwood's decision to build a new hotel in that area.

The FP is further away, in a sketchier area actually, and not the most "together" property in terms of shuttle, points posting, etc.

Ok. So last month I actually booked the FP Des Moines, because people told me the FP Downtown was a bit shabby. I like a hotel with cheap or free parking, since we will be renting a car and mostly visit Boeing Factory and Museum of Flight. I don't want to spend more then $250 a night, so my options are limited. Now I'm ready these not-so-good comments about the FP so could you clarify?

With a car, you should do fine at the FP.

IIRC some other airport hotels at SEA charge a fee to use their airport shuttles, including the Marriott at $6 per person (priced as a RT I believe).
Are the aloft and FP airport shuttles free for hotel guests?
