Oh gee...I am 1 night short of Platinum 75 so I was going to use 3000 points to do an award stay.

Now, the same hotel can be had for about US$100 after taxes. So, US$100 for about 3000 points (+ saving 3000 points). That is worth it, right?

Hmm... I make take advantage of this on an upcoming work trip. Do you all think bookings made via concur would be eligible? I see nothing in the the t&c's that says the books has to be made at spg.com.

I have a booking checking in on 26th Feb and checking out 1st March. Would this be eligible for this bonus considering the T&C state that the promo ends on 29th Feb.

If this is the case, I can check out on 29th Feb and make another reservation for the last night.

The T&Cs say, as they normally do, that you must pay an 'Eligible Rate' in order to qualify for the promotion. That usually means that bookings made through 3rd party sites are excluded, however, there are exceptions for corporate booking systems such as Amex and Concur. You should be able to take advantage of this promo.

Is award stay eligible for this promotion if I incur some room charges for the award stay?

Sadly, no. Charging incidentals to an award stay doesn't make it an Eligible rate for the purposes of the promotion.

incidentally, anyone wishing to check this is directed by the T&Cs :

Lurkers, do you HAVE to use the device as your key to get the 2,500 points? I've got the app on my tablet and it registered fine, but I don't actually want to carry it around to access my room...

Thanks. I did pick that up. I was more curious about a couple of scenarios.

1. You do everything properly to check in via the app but "technical difficulties" at the hotel mean you have to check in normally. No points? Annoying if you've gone out of your way to stay at an Aloft...
2. You do everything properly to check in via the app but after a day or two you ask for a regular key because you prefer it, or your phone has lost power. No points?

That would be a one-off scenario which would be handled on a case-by-case basis.

Maybe I missed a nuance on this one? You used the app. Asking for a key later in the stay would not change this.
