You're right. Not relevant - pointless DYKWIA moment. My larger point was that I do receive Marriott (and SPG, and Hyatt) promo emails, but not of this particularly annoying type.

I've never received one of these emails...until yesterday. Bye bye, Starwood tracking cookies.

I'll bet you'll start receiving them soon. I just got an email from IHG mirroring the same nonsensical email we get from Starwood... complete your booking, blah blah blah. Looks like they are all copying each other. Sadly, this likely means the conversion rates are good and these emails are here to stay

These things keep coming and are beyond enraging. They're annoying, patronizing, and needy. I know damn well I didn't book a hotel from you, why do you think you need to remind me?
Starwood Lurkers, let me be very clear about this: THESE EMAILS ARE COSTING YOU MONEY. I'm so fed up, I went in and turned -all- SPG emails off because of this type of email. I won't receive any promotional emails, or emails of any kind, because of these annoying pieces of crap. I'm ready to give up on SPG altogether.

i thought i'd just add my voice to the fray on this subject. it is really, really annoying and frankly quite pathetic on the part of starwood.
don't the marketing wonks there understand that negative experiences related to an action are most likely to stop the user from performing that action? think "conditioned response," textbook Pavlovian fear conditioning. okay, not to the same extreme but the principle is the same; i'll just stop looking at starwood properties.

How odd, I've never had one of these before.
Just as well - I tightly control which mailing lists I'm on and Starwood (despite quite a few slightly annoying 20% off sales in specific countries I'm not going to) is one of the few companies I hear from. I get just enough signal through the noise to keep me subscribed. Spamming me for hotel bookings would not be good.

Stop sending these e-mails Starwood!! I know I did not complete the reservation and I know why. These e-mails are simply insulting. I'm not an idiot.

Sounds like maybe the hotel did not get the memo. Can you tell me which one it was (here, PM or email) and we'll get that corrected.

I find the email very annoying, but I'm now getting them from IHG as well. Other chains aren't much better, with pop-ups after you don't complete a booking offering other hotels.
I'd love to be able to opt-out of these without opting out of all SPG emails, but unlike some, I'm not going to stop staying at SPG just because of these emails.

I have been receiving these regularly as well, and while super annoying, it truly irritates me when I am spammed with unsolocited emails that contact expired promotions.
