Comments: Long queue at check-in (around 12 noon). Was not pre-upgraded before check-in. Asked if there were any suites available and they found a suite after doing some searching. Smoking room but no smoke smell at all. Appreciated the early check-in as well. Unfortunately this is a very old hotel with new bathroom fixtures.

Comments: I was told this was an upgrade but I've had a corner room before and the "deluxe" room was tiny with a single window the size of my backpack, literally. It's historic property so I get that a larger window wasn't possible for that room. Room finishes were the same as I remember except I had a small couch in the previous corner room. This room couldn't even fit a regular chair. Property was clearly nowhere near capacity but it was getting late and the girl at checkin was really nice and chipper so I didn't feel like going down and complaining as I think she really tried to give me a nice room but probably didn't understand room layouts. I know this is a seemingly negative post but it's my current fav *wood property in all of Tampa and remains my first choice.

Comments: This hotel keeps the title for being the worst for plat recognition out of all my regular properties. Something is off the way it's managed, the owner or relative of the owner is a constant micromanager and seems to always be lurking around the property. I'll have my corp ID checked even when my rate is $10 cheaper than BAR. Beautiful views of the bay though.
