Who not compare? Just because you have a preference for one airline over another doesn't mean others share your opinions. Personally, there's no chance you would ever find me on either EK or QF. (With DL, there may be a 1% chance.)

But I'm glad to see anyone getting a benefit that doesn't take away from anyone else.

You can't compare EK and DL, they are in entirely different leagues. It isn't just my opinion, check Skytrax.

Please don't tell me who I can compare and who I can't. They each have some value to some people, just as each has no value to some people.

Sadly, any easy way to get Skywards Silver?
Agree- if you think about it- 20K of EK tickets is 20K SPG points and v.v. which is easily doable in a year of flying.

Skywards Silver is pretty easy to get as you are based in SYD- just take one roundtrip to EU in business and you will have it.

Sadly, I believe so. You'll only earn SPG points if you're a Emirates Skywards® Silver, Gold or Platinum member.

Regarding status matching, I did read someone had matched from their Cathay Gold, so you may be in luck! YMMV...

Regarding the link not working, that's odd! It worked 5 minutes before I posted above. I did it from my iPhone this morning, and all I needed to do was log into my SPG account, and enter my EK number - it took less than 30 seconds to register. Within 3 minutes, I'd received an email from both SPG and Emirates confirming my registration.

However, now, I also see the sign saying to come back on Nov 19th, both from iPhone and laptop (across all browsers)... Hhhhmmm... not sure if my registration went through now, or not?! I have emails confirming, but I presume something went wrong thereafter, and so they've subsequently pulled it...

Lurkers...?

Hi JK,

The site went live for a short period of time this morning however we experienced some technical issues which are currently being worked on.

If you have received an email from both SPG & EK it means you were successfully registered as some registrations took place prior to the page being removed.

Best regards,

It's Working Now

I was just able to register, so it seems the glitches have been repaired.

Yes- if you head over to the Emirates forum you can get instructions on how to status match- one important point you must have tickets booked and ticketed up to the status level you are wishing to reach- once you send the PNRs and follow the instructions on the Emirates forum you should be able to get early status recognition.

Apparently, in order for this to work, the name on SPG needs to perfectly match the name on EK Skywards. It is not my case.

To make story short: EK has my long official passport name (ie. Josep Surname1 Surname2), SPG has the name I use on everything else (ie. Josep Surname1).

Any way to link both accounts _without_ having to change the SPG name?
