PROMO: Birthday Promo - 2nd night based on birth year
Got this in an email last night. Did a search and didn't find it previously posted and SanDiego1K didn't recognize it either.
So here it is, SPG, pay 1 night predetermined rate, second and third night pay a rate equal to your birth year. Make sure to look at the fine print, because at some hotels it is birth year + $100. In that case it might not be a better deal than one could get from another promo. Anyway, maybe this will help somebody out.

I did a search for my upcoming stay at the W Scottsdale and it included a studio suite for $399 for the first night. So it looks like this would be a good deal for a 3 night stay.

Not for NY properties, just checked few of them, the 2nd & 3rd nights birth year rate is actually $100+last 2 digits of birth year: i.e. if you were born in 1948, you'll receive your 2nd and 3rd nights at $100 + your birth year.

this just saved me HUGE.
There are so many promos, we just forget them. I did read this previously.
I just saved $200 at the Scottsdale W. Was using the ZBT at 239. This gets 199, 2nd at 69 (1969)

This doesn't seem to apply to Planet Hollywood...at least on the dates I tried. No matter what promo I use, Starwood gives me an average rate of about $280 per night, which I get a better deal on from the hotel directly.

Isn't this type of promotion illegal in many places? I thought the courts found this to be age discrimination.

If one was to argue that it unfairly provides cheaper rates to older people that were born in say 1930, than it would aslo have to be illegal to offer any kind of senior citizen or AARP discounts.
Not sure if it is illegal anywhere, but I can only imagine that the legal stiffs at Starwood would have vetted this promo before they put it out.

BUT you need to suss out the properties that will do a decent first night rate and then give you nights 2 and three at just your 2 digit birth year.
And It is especially appealing if you can do three nights in one property.Brought down an upcoming stay in Montreal to under $110 cad a night for the Sheraton-which has a very nice lounge.
BUT the new promo coming up next month promotes hotel hopping
what to do what to do????
