Rental in Madison, Wisconsin
1st time renting from National. Gave me a car with over 10,000 miles, and a big old Chevy, instead of a mid size.
It was pouring, thundering, and lightning outside, and I had to walk in the dark, no lights, follow a construction fence, to a muddy, unpaved lot, that was uncovered, with my luggage. The only way to tell which car is mine is by using the key, cause it is so dark, you couldn't see some number on some fence.

It's been a while since I rented from MSN and I always thought the rental car area was on the North end of the parking lot beyond the garage-but it was paved. When did they change this?

Bad weather, stay away from National @ MSN
Until then, don't rent from National @ MSN. My luggage was covered with mud, and soaking wet. With the way the weather is in Wisconsin, it is best to rent from the other companies, that have cars in the parking structure. Female, in the dark, was kind of scary, since I got in around 11 pm.
I have another rental with them in LAX, hope it is more pleasant.

Rented from National at MSN last week; as an Exec got a choice of Impala or Malibu. Took the Impala; it was a base model car with 20k miles, but was in quite nice shape.
Rental facility is again in a paved lot -- but still uncovered, and National's row is nearly at the end. Had to de-ice the car before departure.

Most of the cars are Impala and Malibu, some Nissan, some Camry.
I rent in MSN a lot. The counter folks don't seem to know this. They always ask if I'm familiar with the facility, need a map, etc. They're friendly enough, but don't bother to look at the screen in front of them to know I don't need them to run down the options. MSN is a small airport with mostly RJ flights. The rental facility for all brands is actually pretty good for an airport this size. Now what ARE those little huts for, anyway?

I rented from Hertz in MSN last summer. While I didn't specifically look at National's lot, the rental parking is in the ground floor of the garage across from baggage claim, and it's open access without a gate to the overflow parking for all if the companies in a parking lot adjacent to the garage, which is then open to the main road without a gate.
So without any gate, they can't leave keys in cars, and without that, they can't have an Emerald Aisle.

Picked up around 4:20pm on 6/21. This location is a franchisee. My car rental barcode on the windows say franchisee as do the rental car keys.
Booked a midsize and was offered a Malibu or Impala. Took the Impala with 19xx miles.
Seems like most cars are Chevy. Majority of them had a dealer decal on the trunk. Nothing spectacular regardless though. Saw a Sienna, Sonatas, Chevy sedans, 1x Challenger.
Saw a Mercedes C63 with Avis.
No aisle so head over to the rental counter.

Picked up Saturday at 1 PM. I had to wait for the lone agent to finish with someone in front of me. This was my first Executive Elite and I had a Full Size Car option. The agent offered me a choice of a Trax, Equinox, Malibu or Cruze. I took the Equinox which had 12,500 miles on it. Good experience overall.
