Smile AA and AE now connected in BOS

The AA and AE terminals in Boston are now connected airside. The hallway exits the mainline terminal at B27 and enters the AE terminal at B26. There are restrooms in the hallway, as well as a bunch of those white airport rocking chairs. They were even running AE flights out of B27 this morning.

Oddly enough, you must still clear security at your respective checkpoint.

That will probally change in due time. It takes awhile to get the BP checkers up to the speed of things... . Is the hallway like the one connecting B & C with wall to wall windows?

This is very good news! Using the early AE flight from here to connect to the 0900 LHR flight was no fun, as often the airside bus wasn't running at that time.

Indeed, we've waited far longer than necessary.

I saw them waxing the new floor on Sunday. Welcome news!
Also: LCDs have been installed at many of the gates. Hopefully this will improve communication to passengers. Now all we need is the return of the IFL

while i was waiting for the 10:15a BOS-ORD on sunday, there was a guy with a hammer knocking down the wall near B27. in true boston form, two state police officers were watching.

glad to hear they were getting the connector ready to go!

According to the Globe, the AE checkpoint will close on Friday, and eventually become a new exit lane (just as the existing exit lane is where the main checkpoint used to be).

Unfortunately, of course, that means no more quick runs through that checkpoint -- which used to be one of the redeeming factors of using AE...

This corridor was planned due to AE gate requiremnts. Already using B27 and soon B28 & B29. As AA keeps reducing BOS mainline (CDG, SNN, MAN, MCO are the next goners) it frees up gates for AE. So no more buses will be needed. Mainline will be focused on B31-B36. Imagine BOS now only needs 6 mainline gates. Main line Flights down from 60+ to plan of less then 40.
