AA34 being canceled for security issues today?
I just received a call from a friend of mine who was aboard AA 34 LAX-JFK this morning. They have taken all of the passengers off of the plane at LAX for a so called security issue. Apparently they are now re-booking everyone on other flights to JFK. Does anyone have a clue as to what is really happening?

As a follow-up to my first post. The people that was taken off the plane and were waiting in line to be re-booked just heard an announcement telling them that they should call the 800 number to make their own arrangements.
BTW, what exactly is AA's rule 240 as every airline has slightly different wording?

ExpertFlyer provides the not-so-useful information "FLIGHT CANCELLED"
I think people with direct SAABRE access can pull up better flight status info than ExpertFlyer. (I've never figured out why--whether AA is intentionally limiting what they share with EF for flight status, or if EF is not pulling the info correctly from SAABRE.)

Sounds like how they were planning to reroute the bags and pax who were affected.

I was on this flight with wife and 3 kids. We boarded, got juice in buisness class, and were told the plane was being taken out of commision. No further info. As my destination was Brussels, we were ushered to the fishbowl for re-routing with the other 64 intnerational passengers on this flight. As we had the three kids, we were at the back of the line, so I went to the AC for help there. After about 2 hours, we were booked on the 8 pm to LHR then a BA from LHR to BRU, still all 5 seats in Business. If I had not gone to the AC, we would have ended up in coach, with an overnight layover at JKK, which would have been miserable. Of course our luggage was a few days behind us, but it eventually made it. Thank God for the Admirals Club!

BTW, my friend had complained to a supervisor wearing a suit (not uniform) at LAX that day over how poorly the situation was handled. She received an email from AA this week which mentioned that conversation and also apologizing for the poor service along with 10,000 miles deposited in her account.
