I don't think it is 'angled', but not fully flat either. It is reportedly quite comfy. The same like the 777 EK seats. The problem with it is more F&B than anything else. For those simply not wanting to spend 9 hrs or so sitting upright, it is a perfectly valid option.

If you're an alcoholic, not so much.

Out of curiosity, what would happen if someone bought a few small 50ml bottles at the duty free and brought them on board? Would they have a problem with that?

I doubt it... Just don't make it too obvious. You can't stop people from drinking before the flight either. They are just no allowed to sell or serve it.

The 13,5 hrs in CAI is more of an issue than you may think though. It is a pretty dire place, from what I have heard.

As mentioned above, the seat is pretty much flat and not at all like the slopey horrors that are now fading away. The drink is not that big a deal and the food is meant to be fairly good. The biggest disadvantage on this deal is CAI, especially if stuck with a long layover

Not much will happen if you are discreet: Egyptians are polite, even though the crafty drinker is not. You would risk offending other passengers - believe it or not, some select dry carriers because they are uncomfortable in an environment where alcohol is served.

​​​​​short answer is if you need to drink, it's short-sighted to fly a dry carrier. If there's a significant cash saving on the ticket, be gracious and accept nine hours abstinence as the quid pro quo for the cheap ticket.

I've spent a good few hours on MS aircraft. Cheap fares and in *A. I can't attest to the flatness of the seats: I'm not hung up on just how flat onboard beds are. But I can say they are as flat as I need and perfectly comfortable.

And after completing a transcontinental red-eye in an AA First cradle seat, the MS cabin looks like heaven.

i was at a similar position at the end of 2015 when we had a 11-12 hr layover in Cairo. found a company that specializes in half-day tours as there are a lot of flights that arrive in the morning and depart at night. a guy greeted us at the gate, worked out the visas within a couple of minutes and took us to a car with an experienced driver who took us to Niles for a boat ride, the pyramids (where an egyptologist was waiting for us and gave us a private tour). the guides then took us for dinner, tea, etc. spent an amazing day in Cairo and felt secure throughout the whole trip (yet, probably won't recommend going there on your own). i think the cost was something like $100-120 pp all in. things might have changed over the past year or so.

Just flew our first J fly on MS. The 777-300 (i think is the same on A330) have pretty decent seating, our flys where almost empty so i was able to get an aditional bed set that i put over the seat.

Dinner service was quitte good out of Cairo (not at all as i just read on One Mille). If your stopover is longer than 6 hours you can get a Free hotel (with food incluided) or get a discount over Egyptair tour (about half the price of the standar price and no visa).

It is a Dry airline but come on the longer route is about 12 hours, if you cant go 12 hours without a drink....you may have a problem hehehe

Just a little heads up, after we got send it to our hotel (6.25 hours conection) we had to wait for our pasaports on Costumer Service (your pasaport will be keep by Egyptair and they give you a Slip to pick it up). Well we waited for over an hour for the document, so plan ahead if this may happen to you

Thanks for the great info! Which hotel do they book for you? Also, you mentioned food - are you referring to a meal at the hotel, or vouchers for a restaurant or at the airport?

I will try to compare with other experiences from other company that you may know better.

I will fly Egyptair again with out any doubt. The seat as is been told before is almost a flat bed, far better than the old 772 from AA for example. The only issues is that i found the seat a bit narrow (compared for example with the 773 of TAM that is also 2-3-2 config). You wont get an amenity kit, you get like a basic flying set (like economy on Qatar) and you will also get only some economy looking headphone...My wife didnt pack her Bose, i give her mine, i use the egyptair phones and they are good and confy but still economy looking (in the same style that you get from Cathay). Food service was great, thay carry the main in a trolly so you can choose by looking, i had a steak with patatoes and i dare to say it was the best steak that i have eated on a fly.

The hotel name was something like Le Passagere hotel and Casino, i renember that they have a logo from tripavisor saying like they where number 1 (have no idea on what). Is really near the airport (closer to T1) if you can google it for me will be perfect.

We got dinner at the hotel, it is a buffet style restaurant. Some other pasagers that had longer stopover got Dinner and Breakfast at the hotel..... Food was OK for a buffet and they have the largest dessert selection that i have seen in a buffet restaurant (thanks you Jebus)

Also a nice point is that business and economy flyers got taken to the same hotel. We got a suite, but the hotel was good so even if you are flying economy and you get a standar room you will be fine.
