Champagne

Taittinger Comtes De Champagne Blanc De Blancs
Champagne Taittinger began in the early 1930s, Pierre Taittingers flair for aesthetic elegance and an entrepreneurial vision helping to establish it rapidly as a fine producer of Champagne. With vineyards in the Montagne de Reims, Cote des Blancs and the Aube, Champagne Taittinger continues to embody the precise balance of power and drive softened with elegance and finesse.

Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill
Founded in 1849 by Pol Roger this esteemed Champagne house has always been highly regarded for the elegance, consistency and finesse it achieves across the range of cuvees it produces. With vineyards across many of the premium areas of Champagne this house has the ability to source the perfect grapes for the perfect cuvee. Maurice, the son of Pol had a particular love for the richness of the Pinot Noir grape, this was a passion he shared with Sir Winston Churchill a well-known devotee of the house.

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame
The innovative and visionary talent of Mme Clicquot herself has made this Champagne label one of the most recognised and successful of the region. Her determination to share her wine with new markets enabled her to first ship the 1811 vintage to the Imperial court in St Petersburg. A little over 200 years later the house of Veuve Clicquot has many strong relationships with growers and vineyard owners all over Champagne.

Champagne

Taittinger Comte de Champagne Blanc de Blancs 2006, Champagne, France
The prestigae cuvee of Taittinger, Comtes de Champagne first appeared in 1952. A Blanc de Blanc, the Chardonnay grapes are sourced from prized vineyards including Grand Cru sites in Avize and Cramant. The 2006 is a powerful, refined and expressive Champagne, this vintage is showing citrus fruit aromas, lime blossom and notes of caramelised grapefruit. It has great length and complexity and is a perfect wine to begin a fine meal, yet could be enjoyed throughout.

White

Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2014, Clare Valley, South Australia
From the master of Australian Riesling, Jeff Grosset, comes this shining example of why the Clare Valley is so established as a great district for the varietal. Produced exclusively from the 8 hectare vineyard the result is classical; mineral and slate that frame lime citrus along with exotic blossoms. Initially round, the palate evolves to refreshing dryness that is powerful and balanced with precision.

Coldstream Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Yarra Valley, Victoria
Established in 1985 Wine industry icon James Halliday. The first Sauvignon Blanc was produced in 1997. Bright and lifted characters of tropical fruits, passionfruit and gooseberry are complemented beautifully with a balanced palate and cleansing, long limey finish.

Leeuwin Estate Art Series Sauvignon Blanc 2014, Margaret River, Western Australia
Restrained tropical fruits with herbal traces, this is a surprisingly complex wine with fifty percent of the wine seeing old French oak. It doesn't dominate but adds to the layered textural palate and length of the wine. Hints of citrus float through adding to the freshness in this great expression of Sauvignon Blanc from the Margaret River.

Red

Paradigm Hill L'ami Sage Pinot Noir 2013, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
'L'ami Sage' is the single vineyard that provides fruit for this wine showing a true expression of 'terrior' that is supported by a philosophy of minimal intervention and purity of varietal expression. Offering a concentrated nose of plum, blackberries and cherries with a hint of tobacco leaf and spice. The palate is abundant with blackcurrant, delicate spice and displays savoury tannins giving overall structure to the wine.

Leogate Estate The Basin Shiraz 2016, Hunter Valley, New South Wales
Distinguishable by cast iron gates and the "Lion Rampart" at the entry to the winery, Leogate are nurturing vines planted in the mid to late 70's. This reserve wine is complex and opulent with regional characters of black cherries, earth and spice. Finely structured with round tannins and fresh acidity, a medium to full bodied wine that shows quality of fruit and pedigree of winemaking.

Wirra Wirra "The Angelus" Cabernet Sauvignon 2013, McLaren Vale, South Australia
A well reputed winery who have recently received biodynamic certification after following sustainable practices for over a decade. The Angelus is the name of the 3/4 tonne bell perched in a modest tower at Wirra Wirra and a rich and concentrated Cabernet that is made from exceptional parcels of fruit from McLaren Vale. Layers of complexity amidst compact structure, keep you going back for more.

Dessert

De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon 2013, Riverina, New South Wales
One of Australia's truly iconic wines. The 2013 Noble One is golden in colour, with aromas of citrus, marmalade and a hint of vanilla. The palate is left with a ripe long finish and beautifully balanced acidity delivers a perfect wine to enjoy with dessert or cheese.

Champagnes & Wines

Champagne

2006 Dom Perignon Brut, Champagne, France
The 2006 vintage continues the Dom Perigean tradition of being an exceptional wine from 100% Grand Cru vineyards. The wine is bright, airy and refreshing on the nose with a floral, fruity tone. On the palate, the wine is succulent with great flavour and has a long finish.

Krug Grande Cuvee, Champagne, France
Krug is indisputably one of the greatest Champagne Houses and Grand Cuvee the archetype of their craftsmanship and savoir faire. This prestige cuvee is a blend of more than 120 wines from ten or more different years which is then aged for a further 6 years in the cellars prior to release. Stylistically Grande Cuvee combines power with finesse - a brilliant Champagne of great quality and individuality. As with all top Champagne Krug Grande Cuvee is a wonderful aperitif, and also pairs well with seafood, poultry and caviar.

White Wine

2013 Bischofliches Weingut Trier Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Kabinett, Mosel, Germany
They have been singing the praises of the heavenly Goldtropfchen vineyard in Germany's Mosel Valley since the year 371, when the Roman poet Ausonius (who later settled in Bordeaux's Saint Emilion) waxed lyrical about it. This truly is one of Europe's great vineyard sites, an impossibly steep amphitheatre of vines draped over blue-grey slate soil and angled towards the warm afternoon sun. The winery was originally owned by the Seminary of the Bishop of nearby Trier. Goldtropfchen means "little golden drops", and this 2013 vintage is full of sun-warmed ripe apple and subtle peach aroma.

2013 Port Philip Estate "Red Hill" Chardonnay, Mornington Peninsula, Australia
The cool maritime climate of the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne is particularly well suited to growing Chardonnay of exceptional quality. This wine made by Sandro Mosele is from a single site of only 1.64 hectare at the ultra modern Port Philip winery and is an excellent example of the exciting new wave of Australian Chardonnay attracting so much attention internationally.

Red Wine

2010 Louis Latour Chateau Corton-Grancey Grand Cru, Cote de Beaune, France
A vibrant red Burgundy that displays the chase and savory, earthy character of the Corton Granny vineyard. This is an elegant red Burgundy that is very consistent year after year in offering sweet red berry flavours that are layered with bay leaf, thyme and an earthy finish. In this fantastic vintage, the Corton has more flesh and density than usual with a fine line of acidity running through it.

2004 Chateau Pichon Lalande, Great Classed Growth, Pauillac, Bordeaux, France
The 2004 vintage had the misfortune to be placed between two of the most famous vintages of recent times - the sunbaked, brawny 2003 and the dark, classically structured 2005. So the vintage got a bit lost. Yet the quality was outstanding, with an unusually dry and warm September and October producing a big crop of ripe, tasty grapes. Chateau Pichon Lalande is one of the great properties of Pauillac, situated right next to Chateau Latour on some of Bordeaux's best vineyard land. This 2004 has a lush depth of ripe blackcurrant and black plum fruit softened by the creaminess of new oak barrels, and uplifted by the mature scents of cedar wood and cigar tobacco.

2013 Clonakilla O'Riada Shiraz, Canberra, Australia
As a small family-owned winery located near Canberra where the climate is cool and in stark contrast to warmer wine regions of Australia, Clonakilla has a impeccable reputation for quality. Very much a modern style, this wine is medium-bodied, with vibrant pepper-spice characters and fruity notes. It is a quintessential "cool climate" Shiraz.

OR

2012 Penfolds RWT Shiraz, Barossa Valley, Australia
Penfolds' best red wines are revered around the world, as is their Chief Winemaker - Peter Gago. RWT stands for "red wine trial", an experiment to see what would happen when the wine from old Barossa Shiraz was aged in French rather than American oak barrels. Since its first release in 1977, RWT has become an iconic wine of great reputation and quality. Excellent with most poultry or beef dishes.

Port

Dow's 20 Year Old Port, Douro, Portugal
With twenty years of cask aging, this Port has acquired a gorgeous aroma of dried flowers, toffee, sweet spices and dried figs. The tannins have softed and evolved into a silky texture with subtle, layered flavours that are persistent on the finish. A beautifully balanced Port that can be enjoyed on its own or with cheese or dessert.

As with all top Champagne Krug Grande Cuvee is a wonderful aperitif, and also pairs well with seafood, poultry and caviar.

White Wine

2014 Greywacke Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand
Kevin Judd, the wine-maker behind the brilliant, mouth-watering 1985 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, has created his own label, Greywacke - named after the big round stones that cover much of the Marlborough vineyard land. This vintage shows his enthusiasm and passion as the wine bursts with piercing apricot and lychee fruit shot through with the tingly acidity of gooseberry and lime zest.

2012 Louis Jadot Domaine Gagey Bressandes 1er Cru, Beaune, Burgundy, France
Beaune is above all a great red wine vineyard right at the heart of Burgundy, but there are a couple of patches of Premier Cru, tucked high up on the slopes above the town, that produce inspiring whites, and this tiny parcel of Bressandes vines, less than a hectare in size, gives wines of fantastic personality. 2012 is a vintage for dry, classic flavours, ripeness matched by mouthwatering acidity, and Bressandes has a savoury depth of roasted cashew nuts and oatmeal, smoothed by cream.

Red Wine

2007 Chateau Leoville Poyferre, Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France
This splendid estate covering 80 hectares of vines in the best part of the Medoc, was named as a Second Growth in the famous classification of the best Bordeaux wines in 1855 and has retained this high status ever since. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are harvested at their peak of ripeness to make this classic "Bordeaux Blend". Deep carmine-ruby in colour, with fragrantly intense aromas of red and black berries, the rich concentration of fruit on the palate is balanced by an elegantly firm finish. 2007 is a vintage that is recognised for its charm and is eminently suitable for red meats and perfect with cheese.

2012 Teusner Albert Shiraz, Barossa Valley, Australia
Teusner is an exciting partnership between winemaker Kym Teusner and Micheal Page the cornerstone of which is their reverence for low yielding, old, dry grown Barossa vines. These old vines produce Shiraz of great flavour, intensity and softness. This is a contemporary style from the internationally acclaimed Barossa Valley.

Champagne

Taittinger Brut Reserve, Champagne, France

The grapes are harvested by hand, while each parcel is vinified separately and the wines are then matured on the lees in French oak barriques.

Brewed using soft underground water from the Chikuma River for an extraordinarily mild and refined flavour, this is a sake of exceptional quality courtesy of one of the first breweries to devote itself to producing sake in the clear, clean ginjo style, using traditional techniques that are still employed today. Distinguished by a fruity aroma and crisp finish.

Red

Dominique Laurent Bourgogne No 1, Bourgogne, France
As the label says, this is "No 1" wine for Dominique Laurent, in terms of "finesse". He selects the best cuvee to make this wine. Actually more than 80% are of Village-class wine from Cotes de Nuits, means it is superior quality than labelled! He never selects cuvee whose Terroir is too strong even if its quality is wonderful. 100% aged in wooden barrel and non-filtered. Philosophy of "No 1" is being highly finessed and early drinking wine. However, it can be enjoyed even after 10 years aged, thanks to its high quality. This is the wine that expresses Dominique Laurent's ideal and passion.

Catena Malbec, Mendoza, Argentina
The Catena wines are a special assemblage of High Mountain Estate Vineyards over 1,500 metres by Nicolas Catena Zapata, the pioneer of Argentine Malbec, and his daughter Laura Catena. Deep violet in color, which is the typical characteristic of Malbec, and ripe black fruits combined with spice notes and smooth tannins.

Infinitus Cabernet Sauvignon, La Mancha, Spain
Familia Martinez Bujanda, innovative wine producer in Rioja, established Cosecheros y Criadores in "La Mancha" in 1951. Infinitus Cabernet Sauvignon has intense and pleasant aromas of mixed berries, spice, balsamic and toasty aftertaste comes from oak barrels.

Shochu

Tekkan, Kagoshima - Okadama Shuzo
An old-style jar-fermented (kamejikomi) shochu made from top-grade Kagoshima sweet potatoes and Japanese rice, with both first- and second-stage fermentations carried out in traditional ceramic crocks. Mellow and fragrant, this authentic satsumaimo shochu never fails to reward the discerning drinker.

Plum Wine

Tsuruume Kanjukumeshu, Wakayama - Heiwa Shuzo
Drawing deeply on the sweetness of ripe Kishu ume plums while maintaining a reduced alcohol rating gives Tsuruume Kanjuku Umeshu a lush palate that never palls. Larger plums than usual are used in generous quantities to showcase the sour-sweet succulence of fully-ripened ume, for a more intense, rounded flavor, while the lower alcohol makes this an enduring beverage for any occasion.

Krug Grande Cuvee
Krug is indisputably one of the greatest Champagne Houses and Grand Cuvee the archetype of their craftsmanship and savoir faire. This prestige cuvee is a blend of more than 120 wines from ten or more different years which is then aged for a further 6 years in the cellars prior to release. Stylistically Grande Cuvee combines power with finesse - a brilliant Champagne of great quality and individuality. As with all top Champagne Krug Grande Cuvee is a wonderful aperitif, and also pairs well with seafood, poultry and caviar.

Red Wine

2004 Chateau Leoville Poyferre, Saint-Julien, Bordeaux, France
This splendid estate covering 80 hectares of vines in the best part of the Medoc, was named as a Second Growth in the famous classification of the best Bordeaux wines in 1855 and has retained this high status ever since. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot are harvested at their peak of ripeness to make this classic "Bordeaux Blend". Deep carmine-ruby in colour, with fragrantly intense aromas of red and black berries, the rich concentration of fruit on the palate is balanced by an elegantly firm finish. It is eminantly suited to white and red meats and of course perfect with cheese.
