Champagne
Champagne Taittinger Prelude "Grands Crus", France
One of the rare Champagne Houses still owned and managed by descendants of the founders, Taittinger is famous for its superb "Comtes de Champagne" luxury blend that comes only from Chardonnay grapes. Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger has now created "Prelude" a 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir blend from only Grand Crus vineyards classified 100%. Aged for more than five years in their historic cellars in Reims, its balance of freshness and aromatic expression is outstanding.
White Wine
2013 Balthasar Ress Riesling Kabinett, Rheingau, Germany
The Ress family have been making juicy, fresh wines in the village of Hattenheim on Germany's great south-facing bank of vines called the Rheingau for 5 generations. They have always focused on the fragrant fruit intensity that Hattenheim naturally produces. The grapes for this wine come from vineyards higher up the slopes above the River Rhein where it is a little cooler, giving a wine with just a suggestion of the peachy lushness of this natural suntrap, but also the appetizing coolness that the river breezes impart.
2012 Heggies Chardonnay, Eden Valley, Australia
At over 500 metres, Heggies is one of South Australia's higher-altitude vineyards. The cooler growing conditions found at this altitude produces grapes with excellent flavour intensity and acidity. This wine, made by Peter Gambetta, is typical of the exciting "new wave" Chardonnay wines from cooler sites that are attracting so much international attention.
Red Wine
2010 Chateau Larose Trintaudon Cru Bourgeois, Haut Medoc, France
The origins of the domain go back to 1719, but it was in 1838 that Henry Delaroze, mayor of Saint-Laurent, created a vineyard on the parcel known as the "tenement de Trintaudon", a magnificent gravelly hillside. It was classified as a Cru Bourgeois Superieur in 1874. This is a classic Bordeaux, with Cabernet Sauvignon (60%) bringing structure, fragrance and fruit; and Merlot (40%) bringing roundness and body. Harvested on the last day of September this is a solid Cru Bourgeois from Haut-Medoc that is balanced with good concentration in this tannic vintage. Young, with cedar and cassis flavors opening, a classic Medoc.
2010 Marchesi De Frescobaldi Nipozzano Chianti Rufina Riserva, Tuscany, Italy
Dating from the 13th century, the extensive vineyard holdings of the illustrious Marchesi de Frescobaldi family are rightly renowned in Italy and abroad. This Chianti Rufina Riserva comes from the 250 hectares of mostly Sangiovese vines that surround their historic Castello di Nipazzano to the north-west of Florence. Deep gamet-ruby in colour, with a nose of both black and bitter cherries, smooth and ripe on the palate with a firm youthful finish, this is a strikingly fine Chianti.
Port
Dow's Ten-Year-Old Tawny Port, Portugal
Dow's, established in 1798, is one of the oldest Port Houses. From their steeply terraced vineyards of the Upper Duoro, blended from six indigenous grape varieties, the wines age. The wine, bright tawny red in colour with candied fruit and toffee on the nose, nutty flavours on the palate with a warm, spicy finish, is the perfect accompaniment to cheese.

White Champagne
Billecart-Salmon, Brut, France
Billecart-Salmon is one of the most stylish boutique Champagne houses. Since being founded in 1818, it has remained one of the best kept secrets in wine.
Production is small. Francois Billecart prefers it that way. It allows him total control of a family business that has won the adoration of serious Champagne lovers.
The gorgeous winery and underground cellars are hidden in a small village surrounded by vines. Billecart uses some old techniques such as basket presses to gently extract the finest juice. Modern technology is used to create extra cold temperatures during fermentation, which extend the process, and adds freshness, elegance and delicacy to the wines.
There is an extra-long ageing period in the dark underground cellars, allowing the complex flavours to unfold.
Billecart-Salmon is pure luxury. We hope you will enjoy it.
Food & wine pairing. The perfect way to start your journey in style. It is also the classic aperitif and well suited to smoked salmon and other light seafood.
Rose Champagne
Pol Roger, Extra Cuvee de Reserve, 2006, France
Pol, as it is known to the legions of fans, is one of the great family-owned Champagne Houses. Decidedly French, but with a strong tie to the United Kingdom. After all, it was Sir Winston Churchill's favourite tipple.
Although a relatively small House Pol Roger has a global reputation for superb quality Champagnes. This is one of the finest wines, a vintage dated Rose, now over 8 years old. We're honoured to have secured this parcel of truly fine and mature wine for you.
Rose Champagne is one of the most difficult wines in the world to make. The art is in getting the color to be attractive, a delicate salmon pink, after such a long period ageing in bottle. Furthermore the wine should be fresh and vibrant, yet complex and layered.
In our extensive blind tasting the 2006 Pol Roger stood out, exuding all these qualities and more. The raspberry and strawberry flavours intertwined with a toasty aromatic and biscuit flavor impressed, and the length on the palate was stunning. We hope you enjoy one of the finest Rose Champagnes, served at 35,000 feet.
Food & wine pairing. Although the perfect aperitific, as Sir Winston would say, it suits all occasions.
Chardonnay
Bouchard Pere & Fils, Beaune du Chateau, 1er Cru, 2011, Burgundy, France
Bouchard Pere is one of the oldest Houses in Burgundy. They have produced and traded fine wines for 9 generations and over 180 years.
Over the centuries this House has slowly acquired some of the greatest terroirs of Burgundy, and today owns an astounding 130 hectares. This is some of the most valuable vineyard land in the world.
Chardonnay grapes are hand harvested from the low yielding 1er Cru vineyard and gently crushed at the winery. There is a long barrel ageing for 12 months, but only a small percentage of new oak so as not to overwhelm the beautiful fruit characters.
Aromatically the wine shows an elegance, a lemon zest, a youthful freshness, and a trace of minerality which weaves through the bright fresh floral tones. On the palate the lively crisp acidity lifts the citrus flavours, balances the medium body, and pushes the length even further. This is a beautifully balanced classic white Burgundy.
Food & wine pairing. A delight with richer dishes, pasta in a cream sauce, and delicious all by itself.
Sauvignon Blanc
Esk Valley, 2013, Marlborough, New Zealand
A recent gold medal at the Concours Mondial de Sauvignon in Bordeaux affirms Esk Valley as one of the world's notable producers of this classic grape.
The winey is located in Hawkes Bay, a premier region in the north island that has shot to fame in the last decade. The grapes are sourced in Marlborough, the warm and sunny capital of Sauvignon on the south island.
Picked at optimal maturity, the grapes are quickly pressed and then fermented at cold temperatures to enhance the vivacious and intense qualities. Dry, light and displaying gooseberry, grapefruit and tomato leaf flavors and a zesty acidity that refreshes. Delicious!
Food & wine pairing. Best enjoyed as an aperitif or with light and fresh seafood dishes.
Riesling
Fritz Haag, Brauneberger Juffer, Spatlese, 2012, Mosel Valley, Germany
Fritz Haag is one of the iconic producers in the Mosel, with a history dating back to 1605. Indeed, fine Mosel Rieslings were once the most expensive wines in the world and Haag was at the forefront.
Haag cultivates Riesling in the famous Brauneberger Juffer Sonnenuhr vineyard, which is planted on the precipitously step slopes of the Mosel valley.
A "Spatlese" is made from late harvest grapes that have achieved a high level of ripeness and so the wine is medium sweet. The nose bursts with aromas of peach, apricots with an excellent freshness, minerality and vibrancy. The palate is medium bodied, low in alcohol, elegant and delicate with enough acidity to counter-balance its sweetness. We hope you enjoy it.
Food & wine pairing. The medium sweet character of the wine will suit spicy Indian and Asian dishes, and fresh fruit plates.
Assemblage Merlot & Cabernet
Chateau Monbousquet, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classe, 2007, Bordeaux, France
Chateau Monbousquet is one of the new star properties of the Right Bank in Bordeaux. When Gerard Perse purchased the property in 1993 he made huge investments in the cellar and the vineyards, and totally revolutionized the quality.
The blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon is typical of many St Emilion estates. But the low yields, precision vineyard management and superstar winemaker Michel Rolland's touch in the cellar have created a superb wine.
The nose shows notes of fresh berries, espresso, milk chocolate and plum. The palate is elegant, with medium to full body, soft light tannins, and beautiful depths of flavor. Monbousquet always shows vivacity, intensity, and a new classic Bordeaux style.
Food & wine pairing. The perfect match with beef, lamb and hard cheese.
Shiraz
Fox Creek, 2013, McLaren Vale, Australia
The Fox Creek story began when a small group of six doctors and their wives decided to pursue a lifelong passion - creating wine from bare earth and sunshine. The earth was found at McLaren Vale, one of South Australia's premier wine regions, globally renowned for its Shiraz. The sunshine was free.
When Jim and Helen Watts bought the 32 hectare Fox Creek Vineyard property in 1984, they were advised against planting vines in the black clay soils that had previously been used for growing barley. Undeterred by the sceptics, they nurtured the young vines which bore fruit, exceptionally high quality fruit and lovingly converted it into supreme quality wine!
The luscious palate is rich and full showing ripe plum and black cherries, with mixed spice and roasted nuts rounding out the mid palate. The wine finishes with great balance and voluptuous grape tannins, and is characterised by a depth and intensity only achievable with old vine fruit. The fine French oak and plus tannins will integrate further as the wine ages.
Food & wine pairing. Perfect with red meats and hard cheeses. For those that like full bodied and soft red wines it's perfect sipping all by itself too.
Tempranillo
Taurus, Crianza, 2007, Toro, Spain
Toro is a wine region in Castilla y Leon, north-western Spain, known for its powerful red wines made from Tempranillo. It is named for the town of Toro, an ancient settlement located on the Duero River, east of the Portuguese border. The Spanish word toro means "bull", and while it is unclear precisely how the town's name came about, the bull is nonetheless a fitting symbol for robust, red Toro wines.
The palate has a great finish with ripe beefy and heady wine boasting robust. With a hints of saddle leather and spice, soft tannins and fine ripeness. The nose is powerful with aromas of black currants and other jammy dark fruit lead to a soft, easy to drink, full-bodied wine.
Food & wine pairing. The classic match is lamb, but the wine also complements beef and hard cheeses.
Sweet Gewurztraminer
Pfaffenheim, Cuvee Ste Catherine, Vendanges Tardives, 2009, Alsace, France
This is one of the most beautiful dessert wines imaginable.
It comes from Alsace in north-eastern France. Here, in the warm sunny autumn the Gewurztraminer grapes are left on the vine long after the normal harvest is completed. They build in sugar, develop heady flavours and luscious qualities. And then when they are at perfect maturity for a Late Harvest wine they are picked by hand and slowly fermented in the winery.
Gewurztraminer naturally produces full bodied and highly aromatic wines with notes of red roses, lychee, and hints of honey. But when left on the vine and picked late these exotic aromas are enhanced further, emphasizing the honeyed notes, and adding orange marmalade and apricot flavours. Stunningly delicious.
This sweet wine is a fine example of all the hallmarks that represent quality in wine. It shows intense aromatics, depth and complexity on the nose, concentration of flavour, balance and elegance, and a long lingering finish.
Food & wine pairing. The quintessential dessert wine.
Tawny Port
Kopke, Colhetta, 1974, Douro Valley, Portugal
We are delighted to have discovered a parcel of extremely fine Tawny Port from the very oldest Port House, named Kopke.
Kopke is the epitome of a traditional Port producer. It was established in 1638 in the upper Duoro valley amidst the steep terraced vineyards in this arid and rugged countryside. Some of these old producers keep stocks of very old Port for release many years later.
This Port is nearly forty years old. It's a single vintage tawny, from 1974. For almost four decades it has aged in small oak casks. Over the years the oxygenation of the wine has turned it into a gorgeous pale reddish brown color and the tannins have all but dissipated, creating a sensationally smooth texture.
The nose shows notes of toffee and dried fruits, along with a slightly nutty aroma. The palate is medium sweet, ultra smooth and filled with the same subtle yet powerful flavors that are found on the nose. The finish is long and complex, a hallmark of a very fine wine.
Food & wine pairing. The perfect wine to enjoy with a selection of cheese or sip by itself after a meal.

Pinot Gris
Domaine Zind Humbrecht, Clos Windsbuhl, 2011, Alsace, France
There are a handful of truly iconic wineries in Alsace. Zind-Humbrecht stands tall among them.
The winemaker and owner, Olivier Zind-Humbrecht, is one of the few Masters of Wine in France. He practices bio-dynamic farming techniques. This means the vineyard is farmed in an ultra-organic way and the earth's cosmic rhythms guide all of the agricultural practices.
The first nose is still a little closed, dominated by spices, smoke and a light torrefaction that add a nice complexity. This is a Windsbuhl which is showing strong terroir characteristic and takes time to open up, but once that is done, it reveals intense citrus fruits, ripe exotic fruits and more spices. The palate is delicate and is capable to integrate the sweetness that almost vanishes on the finish. The tannic richness brings also a saline sensation.
We are delighted to offer you this beautiful Pinot Gris from an iconic producer.
Food & wine pairing. Ideal with spicy dishes, and a lovely way to end a meal with some soft cheese.
Sauvignon Blanc
Saint Clair, Pioneer Block, 2012, Marlborough, New Zealand
According to Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Saint Clair now makes New Zealand's and perhaps the world's best Sauvignon Blanc. Saint Clair has won more top awards for Sauvignon Blanc in recent years than any other local producer.
Saint Clair Pioneer Block wines are made from small parcels of outstanding fruit from specialist vineyard sites prized for their individual terroir characteristics. The fruit of this wine was sourced from a single vineyard owned by Peter and Kath Campbell on the fertile, free draining soils of the lower Wairau Valley.
This is a gorgeous Sauvignon Blanc. Pale and bright in color with intense aromas of passion fruit and citrus. Dry but fruity, light in body, with crisp and pure acidity to refresh the palate. Fermented and aged in stainless steel, the wine is bright, young and fresh.
Food & wine pairing. Ideal with salads, light seafood dishes, pasta in a cream sauce and spicy dishes.
Riesling
Dr Loosen, Erdener Treppchen, Spatlese, 2012, Mosel Valley, Germany
Ernst Loosen is the owner of a winery that can trace its history back over 200 years. This wine comes from the Treppchen vineyard, close to the town of Erden.
A "Spatlese" is made from late harvest grapes that have achieved a high level of ripeness. This, combined with the halting of the fermentation, has created a wine with a pleasant degree of sweetness.
The nose is perfumed with aromas of sweet apples, peaches and apricots, and shows excellent freshness and minerality. The palate is medium sweet, finishing slightly drier, with medium body, and enough acidity to counter-balance the sweetness. A host of stone fruit and tropical fruit flavors unravel on the palate leading into a beautiful long finish.
Food & wine pairing. The medium sweet character of the wine will suit spicy Indian and Asian dishes, and fresh fruit plates.
Assemblage Merlot & Cabernet
Chateau Smith Havt Lafitte, Pessac Leognan, Grand Cru Classe, 2009, Bordeaux, France
Florence and Daniel Cathiard, former members of the French Olympic ski team, purchased the property in 1991. Smith Haut Lafitte had always been one the better properties in the Pessac Leognan region, and following massive investments in the vineyards and winemaking the Cathiards have elevated the quality to rank amongst the finest wines of Bordeaux.
The 2009 vintage is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, and small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The average age of the vines is now 38 years old, and the roots plunge over 20 feet into the subsoil. Smith is one of the few chateau to actually make their own barrels and the wine spends 18 months slowly ageing in cask, which adds extra depth and complexity.
This is a vintage that is approachable in its youth, showing characteristic blackcurrant, coffee and vanilla flavors. Robert Parker rated it 92 points.
Food & wine pairing. The perfect match with beef, lamb and hard cheeses.
Shiraz
Hollick, 2012, Wrattonbully, Australia
Ian Hollick is regarded as one of the finest producers in Coonawarra, one of the prestigious growing regions in South Australia. Together with his wife, Wendy, he started Hollick Wines back in 1983.
Since their humble beginnings Ian has produced dozens of award winning wines and now owns over 200 acres of vineyards. In 1998 he went in search of new terroirs and found that Wrattonbully had similar soils to the famed Coonwarra region. He planted a vineyard here to Shiraz, and called it Red Ridge.
This Shiraz displays a the classic fruit forward style of Australia. The color is a classic inky black with a purple shade to the rim, indicating youth. The nose bursts with an abundance of sweet fruit flavors, including black cherry, raisin and sweet spices. The palate is full bodied, dry yet very ripe, with soft and supple tannins.
Food & wine pairing. Ideal with rich meat dishes and pasta in a tomato sauce.
Pinot Noir
Villa Maria, Cellar Selection, 2010, Marlborough, New Zealand
Villa Maria is the most awarded family-owned winery in New Zealand. It was founded in 1961 by George Fistonich who has been instrumental in putting the country in the spotlight for their crisp, fragrant Sauvignon Blanc's and elegant Pinot Noir's.
The grapes were harvested by hand, de-stemmed and crushed into open-top fermenters. After fermentation the wine was lfet to mature for 14 months in expensive French oak barrels.
This elegant Pinot Noir displays the hallmarks of gentle craftmanship. The alluring bouquet is perfumed with a myriad of strawberry, raspberry and red cherry fruit and subtle spicy note. The palate is dry, medium bodied, with gorgeous silky tannins and beautiful balance.
Food & wine pairing. This is a perfect wine to enjoy with heavier seafood dishes such as salmon, and is ideal with duck.
Sweet Gewurztraminer
Gustave Lorentz, Altenberg de Bergheim, Grand Cru, 2010, Alsace, France
Gewurztraminer reaches its pinnacle of quality in Alsace. And since 1836 Gustave Lorentz has been producing some of the finest examples.
When harvested from a top site, such as this Grand Cru vineyard, and the yields are kept low, you can produce one of the world's most heady and exotic wines. The perfume is so intense, the fruits so tropical and spicy, and the palate so dense and layered. The trademark aromatics of Gewurz are amongst the most beautiful in wine.
What is especially interesting is that the wines drink perfectly when just a few years old, but the best can age for a decade or more. The density of the stone fruit, pineapple, and lychee flavors are counterbalanced by a subtle yet bright acidity, creating the perfect balance.
We invite you to discover this fine white wine from Alsace, one of the world's underrated treasures.
Food & wine pairing. Ideally suited to Asian dishes and other powerfully flavoured food.
