DELTA AIRLINES 2344
Aircraft:A320
Seat: 1A
First Class
Depart: LaGuardia (LGA)
Arrive: Detroit metro airport McNamara terminal (DTW)
Sched.departure:11:05am Actual Departure: .11:15am
Sched.Arrival:.01:11pm Actual arrival: 12:50pm

On an absolute stifling hot morning in new York city I headed to LGA excited for my Asian tour.
LGA can be a hit or miss with security and today it was unfortunately a miss. The sky priority lane was packed with elites/first classes with a good 5-10 min wait before the TSA check point. .It didnt help that they only had two security belts functions and on a Thursday morning(10am) you would expect all lanes open.
I felt sorry for the coach passengers as the line was snacking down the building. Ok maybe felt sorry for them for 1/10 of a second before grumbling with the rest of the the elites/ first class passengers but 5 mins in they Finally opened all the lanes. I will say this, LGA is the most proficient security once you put your stuff on the belt and the agents are probably the most focused out of the entire country. I often feel like small towns and other cites go over board. FLL I say is the worst culprit.

Once through I headed over to the now newly completed refurbished Delta sky club. I personally love the new look, but many have heated debates on flyertalk over the new look. Some people are set in their ways, reminds me of my grandpa haha

Entrance to delta sky club

Padded cubical

I alway enjoy being welcomed back to the club by the regular staff members. I appreciate it, it's kind of my own "Cheers" bar. With a quick coffee and a moment of relaxation I sat in the high wall cubical seats. Some say it's an eye saw, I say it's practical and .blocks out the noise and feel more secluded.
Time head to the gate and as soon as I left the sky club you could feel the .heat baking the tarmac filteering in into the terminal even with air-condition..

Flight DL2344 was delayed with the arriving aircraft arriving in from Orlando. As i was waiting i was surorised to run into 3 flight attendants whom i had flown with in just th pat week..
Question, Why is it that so many gate lice hover the priority lane and get in the way of pre-boarding?!?! What amazes me is they call first class to board and non- upgraded elite members get in line too, Wait your damn turn mister gold medallion seat 15A!

service was the usual in domestic first class between LGA-DTW. food is never served on this flight except for the goodie basket. gogowifi wasn't working and you feel naked, what do i do now?!?! .I guess I will start writing the trip report and read a magazine!.

Detroit McNamara airport is stunning and open with great views of all the aircraft on the Tarmac apron. I stopped off at the Main Delta Skylcub near gate A38 and must I say I must digress, I absolutely love the old school charm of the 2 level sky club. I felt like walking into a new England 200 year old school library.

DELTA AIRLINES 187
Aircraft:777-200LR
Seat:7A
BusinessElite
Depart:Detroit metro airport McNamara terminal (DTW)
Arrival: Hong kong international..terminal (HKG)
Sched.departure: 03:30pm Actual Departure:11:15am
Sched.Arrival: 7:20pm Actual Arrival:6:50pm

I was eager to board .and once the announcement was made at the sky club and off I went to gate:A36. Being the one of the first to board I was excited to get my first glass of champagne. I do love champagne. .I bought a pair of .DG sunglasses from duty free, .normally you pick it up on the .air bridge, however they werent there so one of the .awesome flight attendants took my receipt and made sure I had my new sunglasses. yes!.

On board I set up home for the next 16hrs, I changed into more comfortable clounge wear, placed my amenities in the corner cupboard of my seat. I wish Delta gave out pajamas like some other airlines, oh well..
I have travelled a few times now in businessElite but never in the front cabin .always in the back cabin. After reading flyertalk and all the reports on the site . I chose 7A.

The bird taking us to Hong Kong.

-Side note I had originally chosen 6C as 7A was already taken. But 20hrs before departure the seat became available. 7A is very private seat. There is a closet across from you that shielding 6C from view and a closet to your right .that closes you off. I was going to be in heaven. Quickly I received my first glass champagne. I do like my champagne on international flights, yes I know I mentioned that before and just incase you didn't know (check out my last trip report)

Closet

As much as I do enjoy the seats in business elite .they are quit hard when they are reclined to the complete flat 180 angle bed. With the nose pitched at 3 degrees you are actually laying at 183 .An elite trick I learned from reading flyertalk is to ask for a an extra comforter to lay on the bed to make it softer and much more comfortable.

I also have to mention it is quite amusing to watch people try to figure out the seats, .and be totally lost and when they .ask the flight attendants even they are unsure. Gotta love being a flyertalk member and already knowing before my first flight in business elite..
.I ended up helping people surrounding me and demonstrating the seat options and all the .bells and whistles.

After lunch/dinner service ref dvrrffewas finished I set uo my comforter on my bed and laid down to watch Bolt then laid out the bed, Popped a sleeping tablet and off to 6 hrs of dreamland. It was a smooth flight and no announcements were made the entire time but I alas I was parched and awoke
.
From LAX-SYD there is always a lot of turbulence and therefore several announcements and it's hard to sleep but thankfully it was smooth sailing or perhaps smooth flying f

Bed.
We were at the half way point right over the arctic circle which I found absolutely fascinating. A mid-fight snack was served and I was still feeling a little Peckish so I grabed some sweet Asian buns and cup-o-noodle (which I thought was a little tacky for an Asian flight rather then something a little more premium)

Mid flight snack

Light arrival dinner

I tried to watch another movie laying in my comfy bed but it was not going to happen .I was already passed out for yet another 4 hours. I awoke to thr smell of the aroma wafting from the onboard ovens. A light dinner fare was served 2 hours before landing in hong Kong.
Arrival into a hong kong was quite thrilling as you head from china to Macau and head toward hong kong circling the city to land into hong kong airport.
what an incredible welcome to Asia!

We arrived at the gate early and I was first off the aircraft from 2L and headed down to immigration. There is .free wifi throughout the terminal and i quickly checked into foursquare.

HONG KONG

landing in Hong Kong

Immigration was quick and painless and off I headed to buy my 3 day MTR pass + airport express card for HK$300. I was very impressed with how clean and vibrant the airport was and of course as I bordered the 21min trip to Kowloon the train was futuristic, cool and clean. When you arrive in Hong kong, you can sign into a free 24hr wifi access, so if you go make sure you sign in for access. I Arrived at Kowloon and headed to the free bus transfer to the Sheraton Hotel. Once I was outside the heat and humidly hit me like a ton of bricks.

I arrived at the Sheraton and was escorted to the 16th floor for a private entrance to checkin for the exclusive tower. I was greeted with such upmost sincerity, respect and courtesy you can only get in Asia. I was offered a chair to sit while I was checked in and whilst I was seated I was asked if I cared for water or some juice. I chose orange juice and a waiter presented a tall glasses a moment later. I was only booked into the Sheraton for one night before heading to the W hotel. So I was granted a 3:00pm late check out.

As I entered room 1518 on the 15th floor I was welcomed by a wonderful view of Victoria harbor. The Decor in the room was a little dated and the bathroom was very 1990. But the amenities we're extensive compared to the sister hotels in the US.

There is a private tower lounge that serves tea and coffee 24/7 and during afternoon hours "afternoon tea" with cakes and sandwiches. And cocktail hour.

Breakfast 18th floor tower guest only
