Anyone know if these 747 upgraded seats will be completed by August this year?.

There is an aircraft completed every 6 weeks. Two have already been done with another 7 to go.

By August all 9 that are being refurbished should be completed

Is it possible this route may not be used exclusively by reconfigured 747s, or is it common for the flight seat maps to update later?

Many thanks.
I'd say it would be but the seat map won't be updated until it is guaranteed. I think that you will probably see the aircraft on the DFW (x2), SCL (x1), BNE-LAX(x2), JNB(x1) and FRA(x3) routes going forward, with the regional 744 flights to places like NRT, BNE-SIN, BKK likely to remain in current configuration. Once the 787 arrive, it seems there might be an increase in frequency on the DFW route.

I would however expect to see a 2xdaily A380 between SYD and LAX once the 2 additional aircraft (#13 and #14) are delivered.

I'm on QF8 on 30-May. Up until today it was a 4 class flight being sold as 3 class. Today it's been switched to a reconfigured plane. I had been in seat 4E and Qantas moved me to seat 3F. Seatguru doesn't have any comments on the reconfigured planes. As a single flyer would I be better off in seat 5B? There doesn't appear to be a seat 5A.

Many thanks for the advice.

VH-OEH entered service on Friday bringing the number of reconfigured aircraft to 3

By August I would suspect your flight will be a reconfigured on with about 7 in service

Well that seat is popular with the single travellers. The extra legroom is good, there is extra storage. But you do get traffic from people standing near the doors to stretch thier legs and it is hard to see out the windows.

3F should be one of the best seats in the plane! (3E the other)

(You are in the more private Zone A and no PAX has to climb past another to access the aisle.)

Enjoy is my recommendation.

I'm on QF8 in Dec. and my seat map was switched today to the reconfigured 747. I was in 4E/4F on old config and am now in 3A/3B on the new one.

Does anyone know, on the new 747 config, if 16J/16K (upper deck last row) would be better than 3A/3B or anything else on bottom level? Thanks.

As I keep posting; 3E/F would be the equivalent of 4E/F in the old zone, either old 2, 3 or 4 class.

Really, with Skybed Mk 2 there's plenty of space to get in/out.

3E/F would be the best for anyone and for couples, 14A/B & 14J/K.
