AA: AMS-LHR-JFK-MIA-SCL-MIA-MAD - Bus/Fir - €1,483 but Cant Book?

Hi All.

First time poster - learning and reading for a while.

I am trying to book flights from AMS to SCL for Nov and trying to avoid the economy AA 757 narrow body (connection in PHL/MIA). I came across what appears to be a good deal for and I&F class booking and great for my AA Chalenge, however cant get it to price. Can someone give me a pointer? (or a better routing?).

My goal is to get from AMS to SCL and back, however found this which leaves me in MAD on the return, which is easy enough to connect. I found the below on ITA.

AMS - LHR - JFK - MIA - SCL — Fri, Nov 6
SCL - MIA — Sat, Nov 14
MIA - MAD — Sun, Nov 15

Fare 1: Carrier AA INE9A6R5 AMS to SCL (rules)
Passenger type ADT, round trip fare, booking code I, P
Covers AMS-LHR (Business), LHR-JFK (Business), JFK-MIA (First), MIA-SCL (Business)

Fare 2: Carrier AA INN8S2E3 SCL to MAD (rules)
Passenger type ADT, round trip fare, booking code I
Covers SCL-MIA (Business), MIA-MAD (Business)

Prices up at EUR 1,451 for me. Go to the bottom and click book with American and you're set.

Edit: Google will show JFK-MIA as being in business but when you click through to aa.com it shows up as first.

Also welcome to flyertalk

Swibbz - thanks.

Indeed you are right... and the obvious first search site. I have followed through to the booking, and AA payment page said that the flight departure was too soon (??) to pay online. Now 20mins on the phone being transferred between reservations and web-services who cant figure out how to charge me. Claiming that I purchased from another travel agency. Grrr.

I think there may be too many taxes for the e-ticket template and agent manual calculation (to 'squeeze' the calculation) might be required - I had a similar problem with my previous AA itinerary to SXM - my Travel Agent had to get a permission from AA to 'squeeze' the calculation, price manually and only then issue e-ticket.

Placed one on hold, hopefully I can figure the positioning flights out. A LOT of EQP that could push me over to Plat status

How did you place thi on-hold? I am not able to do this on the AA site [not able to price this on the AA.com site - seems to be only showing if you use the AA Europe site]

Cheers!

First of all, great find! How did you even "stumble upon" this fare??

I just put my ticket on hold through the AA.com site. I booked multi city for Nov. 20 - Nov. 28 for USD 1,603.
AMS-JFK
JFK-SCL
SCL-MIA
MIA-MAD (through JFK)

My only question is if I will be able to skip the first and last legs as I would be originating in the USA. Much easier for me to get an round trip award ticket to JFK as I am based out of the midwest. Does anyone know if this will be an issue?

Thanks in advance and again... great find!

You won't be able the skip the first leg without your ticket being cancelled AFAIK. However, nothing's stopping you from not showing up to your last leg. Don't do this too much however.
