Stamford CT

Good afternoon,

I will be staying in Stamford for a week in a couple of weeks.

Any recommendations on places to eat and listen to live music would be great.

Thanks

There's an alive at 5 outdoor music thing in the summer that attracts huge crowds (not usually a good thing), but if you are interested in any of the groups below it may be worth a visit. Believe it's free. About the best thing about Stamford is it's only a 45 minute to an hour train ride into New York and that costs $13 or $10 depending on time of day.

Don't know what their restaurant scene is right now, but it's always changing so there's plenty of selection.

Thank you very much,

Where does the Alive at 5 take place?

Columbus Park, downtown. Washington Blvd and Main street areas.

Here's a story with a picture from a past one.

Fun to go to if it's a group you like, otherwise avoid the area.

Sounds like fun! I will have to check out the group: Hot Chelle Rae

Never heard of them, but I have a wide taste in music.

I used to live in Stamford and was impressed with the restaurant scene, overall.

While perhaps not the most exciting menu, this place always gets a good after work crowd and is a pleasant place for an outdoor seafood meal on a sunny summer evening.

For lunch, I always liked the Victory Deli (formerly Victor's) on Main Street.

Although a bit further afield (but still in Stamford), the Bull's Head Diner on High Ridge Road is excellent as is the City Limits Diner, just off Exit 6 on I-95.

If you're downtown, there are a bunch of nicer "white tablecloth" but chain restaurants at Stamford Town Center, the mall, which is just a quick walk from the train station, the UBS building, and everything else.

If you have a car, there are also very nice restaurants in Greenwich, which is about 5 miles down I-95 (toward NYC). You can stroll Greenwich Ave. and find many good options.

We had our rehersal dinner at this place and can reccomend it:

Darien and South Norwalk also have nice restaurant options. You could, actually, take Metro North to Greenwhich Ave., Darien and South Norwalk very easily, so they are options even if you do not have a car.

Finally, if you are able to go slightly further afield (20-30 minute drive), this gem is located in Bedford, NY. I cannot reccomend it highly enough.
