Cars at Seattle Downtown

I know we have a thread for National's Seattle Airport location, but I don't think there is one for their neighborhood store. I'll be picking up a compact on Sunday. Has anyone rented from downtown recently?

Two years ago, I had a Luxury res and got a Town Car. Traded at the airport for a DTS.

First off,the location is smaller and it's shared with Alamo. Generally the cars are assigned to you and if I am not correct, the cars are supplied by the airport. You can generally expect a lower end vehicle with higher mileage as well.

Since it's a one-way to Boston, I sure hope the car is in good shape.

Last year when I called them to ask how Emerald Club's choice program works there, they said "you can choose the pick of the liter in your class." I asked even if it's a one-way. They seemed surprised, and said, "yeah, the fleet is corporate owned." And Jackal once said it's possible to glance at the parking lot before going inside. So hopefully, I won't get stuck with a lemon. Trading it out at SEA would be a pain, since my plan is to get on I-5 and then onto I-90 to go across.

I arrived at the Seattle Hilton National lobby counter last Sunday morning, to pick up my one-way compact to Boston. The clerk said they have just one compact- a 2012 Chevrolet Sonic sedan, ~20k mi, silver, and NV plates. The others were all full size cars. The garage seemed almost empty, with an odd Altima sprinkled in. To my surprise, the car was given from a neighborhood store with a full gas tank.

I asked the clerk if the Sonic is indeed a compact, or really a subcompact. He replied it is a compact. The keychain and window barcodes all said ECAR. Not that I really cared. At the time I booked, the rates for subcompacts and compacts were the same, and I was by myself anyway.

The gas mileage seemed decent, at least 33 mpg, especially once I-90 left the mountain west. Maybe this car was not as fuel efficient as some of the other small ones I've rented, but good enough.

Cars at downtown Seattle

National car downtown Seattle is located in the Hilton on the 6th Ave, just off I5 North Exit 165. It's a shared location with Alamo. Long queue at Friday morning, primarily travelers. NO EC stand, you have to ask them and identify yourself as EC member. I think the fleet size is less than 50 at this location.

Premium selections offered by agent: C200, Mustang Convertible, Maxima and Taurus. Took the Taurus, it's 13 limited and come with rear-view camera. The car itself has 5400 miles on it. Overall the my rental experience wasn't too bad.

Can you clarify? We're you offered a Mercedes Benz C200 with a premium reservation, or did you mean to say Chrysler 200?

Chrysler 200; no such thing as a Mercedes C200.

I wasn't sure if the c200 was an actual M-B model or not, but a quick google pulled up pics of cars, so I jumped to conclusions before I realized it wasn't sold in the US.
