I use Chase as my goto portal but do use AA portal when

1) AA portal is running huge multiplier promo that makes it advantageous to resell and merchant has return policy that I can use if points don't post.
2) AA portal has merchant that chase does not.

Sorry for a silly Q, but does one have to use a Chase card at the Chase portal?

If you mean the Ultimate Rewards Mall, yes you must have a card which participates in Ultimate Rewards to be able to login to the shopping portal and to have a rewards account into which the bonus points could post. You do not necessarily have to use that card when making the purchase, but if the points do not post automatically it is difficult to demonstrate that you made the purchase.

Just FYI-both the Ultimate Rewards and the AAdvantage shopping mall portal are run by Cartera Commerce. For reasons unknown, the UR mall seems to work without a hitch much more of the time.

I've been pretty lucky with the UR mall for at least the last 6-8 months. However, I made numerous purchases with Eddie Bauer and not a single one posted. I guess I will have to follow up and get "scolded" again for not following the rules. NOT

Anybody heard anything about the issues with kohls not posting through UR mall over the past month? Many of us are missing thousands of points. Now kohls completely yanked from the UR mall

Added Virgin America (VX) portal, which is operated by Collinson Latitude. That name may not seem familiar, but Collinson is an insurance conglomerate which also operates the Virgin Australia (VA) portal plus Priority Pass, Lounge Club and Lounge Pass airport lounge programs.

I have had it with Cartera too, just like so many in this thread and decided today that I'll be sending a letter to all the vendors that Cartera says did not report as well as the AG in MA. My thought is they are charging these stores anyway, even if denying the customer. They change excuses in the middle of the email exchanges. This time around they said I used a different portal then, in the next email, they said I used a code that invalidated the mileage posting. They are obviously running a scam on both sides of the contract.

Now that I vented on that, has anyone used the Marriott Mall (Shop My Way) much? Is that operator any better. The pay out is a bit less than the UA mall (when you look at the exchange between UA and Marriott) but if I actually get the points each time I'd gladly give up a few miles in the long run. I buy a ton of things online and can't just look the other way on the extra reward, I need to chase it down when it does not show up. Hoping that this company has a better record than Cartera.
