I have been comped some years ago when close to the SEN 100k (out of Germany) - not sure what procedure they follow now...

Just buy a ZWS or QKL - FRA ticket on LH.com, and then check in online, 750 miles will post the next day.

OK, but quite an expensive option. 450 euro on a normal r/t .

is it cheaper adding an international flight from FRA to it?

Not cheaper but perhaps combine it with some flights you will actually be able to use in 2013?

If you want to go back to OPO for example look at something like this:

Datum Abflug Ankunft Flug Dauer Klasse
Fr 28 Dez 09:55Kln/Bonn, Kln Hauptbahnhof 10:50 Frankfurt LH3609 Durchgefhrt mit Zug/Bus 0h55 Economy (H)
Fr 15 Feb 09:30Frankfurt 11:10 Porto LH1176 2h40 Economy (H)
So 17 Feb 12:00Porto 15:50 Frankfurt LH1177 5h05 Economy (H)
So 17 Feb 17:09Frankfurt 18:05 Kln/Bonn , Kln Hauptbahnhof LH3620 Durchgefhrt mit Zug/Bus Economy (H)
Gesamtpreis
Flugpreis
(pro Person) Steuern, Gebhren & sonstige Zuschlge
(pro Person) Passagiere

Total

670.00 + 137.47 x 1 Erwachsener = 807.47
Gesamtpreis fr alle Passagiere = 807.47

You can rebook the FRA-OPO segments for a rebooking fee.

Ok, but what is the benefit?

If I book it later I do not have the rebooking fees.

Or can I not do an online checkin without a flight?

No. You won't get any miles if you don't fly.

You usually do get miles, however, even if you don't take the train.

Be careful not to confuse these two scenarios!

There are many people who haven't been comped with just a few miles missing. I would advise against it.

I would advise to go back to Rambuster's post and read the routing more carefully.

Sorry, but still not very clear reading it again:

1) Book airrail ( date before 31/12) + flight ( after 31/12)

---) I can use my airrail ticket after 31/12?
---) with an OLCI I get the miles

Is this what is said, as otherwise Why would i buy the airrail ticket + flight as it costs the same.

This way you can actually buy a ticket which you can still use next year.

Book a ticket like this (this is just an example!!!):

30.12.2012 CGN - FRA airrail
15.02.2013 FRA - OPO flight
17.02.2013 OPO - FRA flight
(17.02.2013 FRA - CGN airrail)

Do OLCI on 30.12. for the airrail an get the miles credited on 31st.
Take your flight on 15.02 from FRA to OPO.... as the airrail is on 30.12., you can't use it in 2013 anymore.

This is what I understand. But why I do not just book the following :

30.12.2012 CGN - FRA airrail

Is it cheaper to book with an extra flight? Is it that I then can do the online checkinn? because otherwise I do not see benefits of booking a flight with it.

Just book ZWS-FRA for tomorrow, its just 100, books in V, and earns 500 miles as if its a domestic flight.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Usually not.

No - you can do OLCI for your airrail segment in any case.

I guess everyone here assumed that you will have to fly at some point next year. Adding an airrail segment to a ticket you'll have to buy anyway is most likely cheaper than other options.

If you don't intend to fly next year, book this. Or rethink why you need the status if you don't fly
