I've booked one trip already, but there may be a few other times I want to go. One of them isn't available anymore, and the other is in June of next year, which we're not yet able to book....
I booked a ticket with "random"-type dates so that I could later change them for travel dates wanted/needed. (I did this with AZ's biz fare special on DEL-MXP-LON-MXP-DEL last year too.)

But wait! Orbitz says that if there is a difference in fare, you'll be charged that - is that not true in Alitalia?

Just picked up a ticket for MLK weekend, 2007. Ticket was purchased on Orbitz at 1:55pm EST.

1/13/07: YYZ-MXP (AZ, C class, 762)
1/14/07: MXP-LCA (CY, Y-class 320)

1/15/07: LCA-FCO (CY, C-class 320)
1/15/07: FCO-JFK (AZ, C-class, 772)

1/16/07: JFK-YYZ (AA, Y-class, ER3)

Total cost: $182.60 airfare + $9.99 service fee + $21.95 paper ticket = $214.54

Talk about a great start to 2007!

can u do two, three, four tickets together...(in other words, do I go alone, with wife, or do we leave the kids behind?)

If it's just date changes, a reprice is not necessary with AZ. (Expedia kept trying to get me to reprice my tickets when requesting a date change, but AZ always changed my travel dates on wholly unused tickets and did so generally without issue.)

If a stopover or reroute is requested/added after original ticketing, then that's another matter and is far more likely to result in a repricing/add-collect. This is where it could turn financially ugly. A simple date change needs not be ugly financially if the same "D" inventory is available on the desired travel date.
