Use the roundtrip function on Google Flights and you'll be able to see easily creative connection routings to maximize your mileage.

As a soon to be ExPlat, I would think routing through LHR, at the expense of some extra miles, would be a better option for better amenities, no?

Routing through lhr direct would be the most comfortable, if you have upgrades. Jfk and mad being the second I guess. All lie flats.

$27 on arrival. Pretty easy. Was there just 2 weeks ago. You can also stay in transit without a visa. I think there is a free tour from Qatar Airways you can take and you don't need a visa since technically you are in transit. Just do a Google search and you'll find info about it.

you have to call and ask an agent to split the flights because the system sees it as one segment. Some will do it, most wont. But if they are willing to do it, you will get flight credit for both segments.
