Taking my wife and 2 kids (6&8) for to Atlantis for a surprise birthday. It's 160K to redeem 5 nights at the Royal Tower-Terrace view room and 255K points for a Cove-Deluxe Ocean view room (2 queens). My question is it worth the almost 100K additional points to stay at the Cove or should I save the points and opt for the Royal Tower. One thing to note, is the max capacity for the Cove, even with 2 queens states 3, I'm assuming I can still try to get my family of 4 in there.

My knowledge of Atlantis is limited, having only been there once. My wife and I went to Atlantis last November and stayed in The Cove. We appreciated the peace and quiet it afforded us. We enjoyed being at The Cove pool, which is for adults and we also enjoyed, perhaps even more, The Reef pool which is open to guests at the Reef or The Cove. It was never crowded, especially compared to the waterpark. When we wanted to venture out to play on the slides or lazy river it was easy to access, but when we had enough, it was back to the padded chairs and quiet of the Cove and Reef.

We went through the Royal Tower at least once a day to attend basketball games or walk to restaurants. I'm sure it is a very nice hotel, but for us, it was a bit too busy.

Please understand we did not have children with us, but even if we did, The Cove isn't far from the entrance to the Waterpark and the dolphin area. If proximity is important to you, the Royal Tower is certainly in the center of it all, as far as shops, restaurants, casino, and waterpark.

I know a lot of folks don't care much for Atlantis, but we certainly enjoyed our time there. We could do a lot, or nothing. I'm sure we will return when our team plays in the Battle for Atlantis again, and when we do we will stay at The Cove.

My points knowledge is somewhat limited at this property, however I have been to Atlantis 3 times the last year with another trip upcoming.

With kids it is absolutely NOT worth paying the 100K in points to go to the Cove. The cove is adults only and you are paying for that privilege. In regards to kinds in the room, I just checked my most recent confirmation email from Atlantis(Please note this is a casino comp not a points night for the Cove)

"Beach Tower, Coral Towers, Royal Towers and The Reef additional guests 12 years of age and over will result in a $50 per person per night charge with a maximum room capacity of 4 adults and 1 child under the age of 4.

The Cove additional guests 12-17 years of age will result in a $50 per person per night charge with a maximum capacity of 4 people. Additional guests 18 years of age and over will result in a $75 per person per night charge with a maximum room capacity of 3 adults."

Given this, I would imagine that you would be able to have your wife and 2 kids in the Cove. IMO take the Royal Tower(you should be able to get a room with a view) and take the points you save for another vacation. Enjoy the pools, swim with the dolphins, and go to the Fish Fry for some conch salad.

I haven't stayed in the Cove but have stayed in the Royal, Coral, and Beach Towers. The Royal Towers is nice and is very well located with regard to the pools, waterpark, restaurants, marina, etc. I wandered quite a bit at the property and never even got to the Cove. I did look into staying there, but if I were in your shoes, particularly with fairly young kids along, I'd go for Royal.

Any thoughts on the appropriateness of an Atlantis vacation for a blended family of children being 17, 16, 14, 14, and 11? All daughters? Cove or Royal Towers?

As someone who has stayed at Atlantis yearly for the past 15+ years, no need to spend the extra points to stay at the Cove if you have younger children.

As mentioned above, the Cove does not allow children in the Cove Pool area as it is 18+. While the Cove is probably equally close to the water park area, it is a decent walk away from the main hotel area and marina area.

Save the 100k points for your next vacation.

Sorry for the late reply, but are you sure The Cove is 255K points? It is a Category 9 hotel and should only be 45,000 per night. Fifth night is free when you redeem four nights so it should only be 180,000 points for five nights vs 160,000 for Royal Towers.

I do believe all its rooms are considered "suites' and thus require a number of 5K/night upgrade certs in addition to the base room award.
