What's your Average per Night spend in Luxury hotels ?

Just for the room, not for dining or any other additional services

I would guess for most here around $750 to $1000 US a night ?

average over what time frame?
not sure many here 'average' it out, even business travelers
average doesnt cover large variation, nor amount of travel

even if prefer under x amount, that is something separate

not sure how you came up with that guess

lowest rooms in luxury hotels - much less
multi-bedroom villas / top suites - much more
inexpensive city vs expensive capital vs island/safari
low season vs peak holidays (with schoolchildren)

sometimes small rooms can cost more than giant villas
(both at luxury properties, not comparing to nonluxury)

I think most people on here subscribe to the old adage 'if you have to ask the price you can't afford it.' That's why I'm refraining from asking Macmyday about that apartment in the Connaught . . .

Are you happy now?

indeed. that average (<€3K) becomes meaningless.
many here have huge ranges, even if not that huge.

some spend 'less' because upgraded or negotiated rate.

you have missed a lot of rate/value discussion here, which seems to be growing.

stereotypes dont work. doesnt matter that they have origin.

My range this year will be from £49 to £2,000 per night and I expect others on here would have similar tales. The £49 was a Holiday Inn Express for a funeral where I was turning up late the previous night.

they did say luxury hotels, but luxury rates vary by market

many here travel to asia for a reason, whether resort or city
one poster said they will never pay for luxury outside asia

some on forum 'only' do 'resort', of varying price levels
some on forum 'only' do city, of varying price levels

excactly. 1000 in Berlin or Warsaw is very much, in London you don't get much for it

I avoid spending more than 1000 Eur per night except for some special suites that I really want to try. In this case I can go up to 3000 Eur but not more.

Yea - and even within Asia, same thing for Bangkok vs somewhere like Maldives.

The question really depends on the place.

It is not really how much I want to spend but rather what is the market going rate at the place I am going to. There are usually just a handful, if that, of hotels I would like to stay in and I would pay what they want to charge

There is no simple answer to this really. I've paid £6k a night for a pool suite on the Côte d'Azur in peak season, to £2k a night for a premier water villa in the Maldives, to £100 a night rooms at an airport Hampton Inn. Just depends on place, time of year and my reason for staying.

As a rule of thumb, for business, under USD500 a night. For leisure, can be much more but generally not exceeding 1K a night and only willing to pay more for quality.
