Thanks Aventine, it's a fascinating saga/insight into how deals are proposed between owners and managers of hotels.

As the report pointed out, we should stay tuned on this one.

More Chinese capital ruining Jeju Island. I bet Four Seasons Jeju is going to charge more than Jeju Shilla and Jeju Lotte but what's the market going to be like for them without the Chinese visitors. I'm not spending around 500 USD or 600,000 KRW per night in Jeju Island. Four Seasons is having a laugh.

I'm guessing Four Seasons Jeju slots into that luxury hotel slot on the map.

Somerset is already there and Marriott is coming in 2018.

I heard that because the Biarritz property is owned by the city, the owners could not justify the spend required by Four Seasons, which is why the project is not going ahead.

San Clemente Venice was never seriously considered, as Four Seasons thought it was too short a season to make money. It also did not have sufficient suites, and because it is a historic building, rooms could not be knocked together to make more suites. This was when Chris Norton was still President of FS.

San Clemente ownership also wasn't willing to put in the amount of money that even Starwood/St Regis required. That's why it was a StR for a hot minute before becoming a Kempinski. If it wasn't enough to placate StR, I'm sure that also was an issue for FS.

Unsurprisingly Kempinski is willing to manage just about everything.

Refurb at Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at The First Residence

The 262-key property has already completed five of its 20 floors, and it remains fully operational with the project due to be completed in early 2018.
Completed enhancements include the expansion of the lobby area with the addition of a second reception desk area to enhance the hotel’s check in and concierge experience.
"As the first Four Seasons hotel in the Middle East, we are proud to be able to give all our rooms and suites, the largest of their kind in the city of Cairo, a newly revamped luxury look and feel," said the hotel's general manager Mahmoud ElKeiy, in a statement.

Four Seasons Iguazu

So per this post and this article , the new owners, Albwardy Investments, intend to renovate the Sheraton Iguazu and convert it to a FS. I've been to this Sheraton... if the intention is to create a FS then the first thing they need to start with is a wrecking ball.... nonetheless, apparently the same owner does own the FS BA so maybe there is some credence to the story....
