Bologna Dinner - Price Is No Object
As luck would have it, I'll be celebrating my 50th birthday in Bologna, with friends from New Orleans, in the middle of a food-oriented 2 week Emilia Romagna vacation.
I'm hoping for a meal that will live on in my memory for years. Price is not a concern for this meal.
Any suggestions?

i don't think there are any extremely expensive restaurants in bologna. my favorite is da NELLO on via montagrappa. i would call a couple days in advance and ask if you can sit downstairs and be served by Benassi(bennie), if he is still there. tell them at that time that it is a special occasion. ask him to prepare a special meal for you(probably when you sit down). ask him to serve some of the special wines he has that are not on the wine list.
i have never asked prices, and always been treated fairly.
