I had an exec suite and a deluxe suite last year. The exec suite is a proper 2 room suite just a bit smaller than the deluxe suite and without the impressive bathroom with harbour view jacuzzi.

Question Room type: Executive Pool View?

My apologies if this has been answered before - just searched through this thread but couldn't find a clear answer:

Have an award stay coming up at the IC HK - received a "courtesy upgrade" from my originally booked "Superior Room" to a "Deluxe Room." When I just double-checked my reservation, it now lists room type as "1 KING BED EXECUTIVE POOL VIEW." What kind of room is this? When trying to book a stay at the IC HK, I don't see any "Executive Rooms" listed, but I don't assume it's an "Executive Suite," either, since it has a pool (and not a harbor) view?

Also, will the "Executive Room" give me access to the Executive Lounge, or is that a different category?

Many thanks for your insights,
pilluelo

Now Executive Plaza (Pool) View Room is not selling in public. This room has usually assigned for Platinum member's upgrade of cheapest room booking. Of course, Club Lounge access does not include in this room's package.

I think I had this room once several years ago when this hotel was very chintzy on upgrades. It was large and nicely appointed. No harbor view as you surmised, and no Club access.

my mom received this room when I booked her on points. Very large, great view of the construction and a tiny sliver of the harbor on one side.

Executive Room

Thanks for your responses!

Based on your experience, how does the "Executive Room" compare to the "Deluxe Room" I was originally upgraded to? Also, if I purchase Ambassador prior to the stay (currently, I'm just a lowly Plat ) would I have a shot to a room with full harbor view and/or lounge access?

I appreciate your insights!

An executive room is larger with more features. It's a rather nice hotel room in general.

Sorry but you have to be Royal Ambassador for Club and in my experience even RA's do not get upgraded to Harbor view. You have to pay for that. However as an Ambassador you might be able to negotiate a not-so-expensive cash upgrade to harbor view. And you can pay for Club too.

I've said it before on this thread but I did get upgraded to harbour view(no club) as a regular Plat on my award stay last year. It seems I was lucky, maybe because I was staying midweek right before the Rugby Sevens?

And for anyone keen to get the Harbour view, I would say it is amazing for the first night but after that it kinda wears off. Especially since it was my first time in HK so we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. If staying in this hotel again, I definitely would not pay extra for the view. As a one off experience though or for a special occasion, yes it is worth it.

Thanks for the additional information!

I'll check with the hotel how much a room with harbor view and/or club access would be. Already looking forward to my stay!

I'm only going to be in HK for one night so I'm mostly concerned with location. I'd like to go out and have dinner and check out the town before going to bed.

Which IC would be better for proximity to food and nightlife? IC Hong Kong or IC Grand Stanford?

If you want local food, I suggest IC Grand Stanford. If you want high end restaurant, I suggest absolutely IC Hong Kong.

You can certainly get local food near either hotel. But for most of the nightlife you will want to have metro access so the main IC would be the best. However if you prefer taxi, either hotel will do.

Staying in a Deluxe Suite for three nights in April but my prepaid rate did not include breakfast. If I want to add this at checkin how much would it likely cost me ? Would it be worth it ? Can they do me some sort of deal or would it be the same thing as just have breakfast each morning and charging it to my room then settling at at checkout ?

The view from the dining room seems incredible, is this where breakfast is served ? Is it a full buffet including hot food etc ?

Cheers

I suggest to have breakfast by in-room dining or Club InterContinental.
Harbourside restaurant is so crowded and noisy. You've already have your exclusive great view in your Deluxe Suite.

I have to correct myself as this hotel is now much more generous now than previously. I booked the cheapest deluxe room as RA and was upgraded to a Superior Junior Suite with wraparound harbor and city views. With club of course. ^
