HR Waikiki REVIEW - MASTER THREAD 2000-8/2011

Just spent 3 days at the Waikiki Hyatt. As a Diamond member, I was upgraded to the Regency Club.
IMHO, it has the best RC staff.
There are free drinks, the usual breakfast, desserts at lunchtime, excellent hors d'oevres, and another dessert at 7:30PM.
But it is the staff that is so exceptional.
I highly reccommend it.

It used to be the best in the Hyatt system- at least of the many I had been to. After 9/11, it suffered significantly. However, in my most recent stay about 10 days ago, it was excellent again.
Free drinks in the evening and very good food.
The service was again very good.

Sounds like you stayed on RC level....think I can upgrade with plt. status ? Really looking forward to this stay, tired of the Hilton, this seems like a better location...

I stayed here two weeks ago. They seemed very generous with upgrades. (I'm a Diamond).

Call the hotel directly in advance of your stay for a RC upgrade, or book a cheap RC room and try to upgrade the view.

This was my first stay here and I can't wait to go back. Rooms were bright and well decorated. RC staff was EXCELLENT, and the RC had some great food (especially the food!)
The club is near the top of the hotel, with an outdoor lanai looking out on the Pacific, the beach, and Diamondhead.

Definitely call to upgrade in advance.

Nice job Hyatt Regency Waikiki!

This past Tuesday I flew into HNL for a one
night stay before leaving to visit our office
on Kauai. I booked a room with another chain
at $125.00 for the night. The hotel was not
good. As I was walking I noticed the Hyatt
and immediately called the Diamond desk to
ask if any rooms were available. Yes was the
answer. Then I asked if rooms were available
using my last FFN. Yes again. I walked into
the Hyatt to reception and asked what could
you do for a Diamond member staying with FFN
this evening. Great oversized full on ocean
front room on RC. Staff was very nice, cool
and efficient. Business center in Ewa Wing
w/ compliments for Diamond members. Two
computers with immediate internet service and
printers. I have never considered the Hyatt
in HNL but will always keep it in mind after
this very positive experience. I told the
other hotel I was staying the night at the
Hyatt and to their credit they just checked
me out as if I had never even checked in.

Their RCC service has always been very good, having stayed there 20-odd times.

Just missed you by a day there. My diamond status has lapsed, so as a measly platinum I didn't get all the perks you mentioned. But I did get a large ocean-view room in the Ewa tower. Also, I asked for a late check out and they let us stay until 5:00 PM, which was plenty of time to visit the beach and then shower and change before heading for the airport.

Even got a couple of leis, which we gave to the Duke statue on the beach.

I have stayed ay the Waikiki Hyatt over a hundred times. The Regency Club staff is the best I have seen, and the RC munchies are top notch often from the Rest.menu. Don't forget to tip the staff of RC.

I have stayed there numerous times and love the RC and staff.
During my last stay, Feb 2002, the food had been significantly downgraded. Otherwise, it was still great.

Just chiming in a 100% agreement. I fell in love with the view from the RC. And the staff was wonderful.

We stayed there on a FFN award and were upgraded to an deluxe ocean front RC room, which was very nice. First RC in NA, which offered all drinks for free unlike the other "so called" RCs in NA we have visited so far. Very personal service in the RC.

I am happy to see we are all on the same
page. This post will serve others well in
the future. I noted that RC is serving items
from rest.. It must have been an off night
when I was there. The desert however was
excellent. Thank you again Hyatt HNL.

I've always stayed in the upper floors and only had a problem once. The wind was pretty strong and coming from the same direction our room was facing. Made it pretty noisy and very tough to sleep and we ended up moving. Of course, the ocean view high floor rooms are generally preferable.
