How will standard room rewards be affected by the changes?

As we make this transition on Standard Room Rewards, each hotel's maximum Points price is NOT increasing.

For example, today a Standard Room at Category 10 hotels maxes out at 95,000 Points per night. Once the new Points & Money program launches, those hotels will continue to top out at 95,000 Points, and may sometimes be priced lower than the previous category range.
Will I earn bonus points on the cash portion of Points & Money bookings?

Points & Money stays booked under the current system are subject to the current Terms & Conditions of the program - therefore, you would not be eligible to earn Points on the cash portion of the stay.
Although the HonorsRepresentative stated in Feb 2017 that 'you can rest assured about the value of your Points. Furthermore, the HonorsRepresentative stated that:

There was a lot of discussion here about how that promise would only be good during & shortly after the transition, so this shouldn't come as a surprise. That said, I agree with you that no announcement of any kind for future changes is disappointing.

The lesson here: if you have the points on hand, book what you want (assuming you know what/when that is) ASAP, and cancel later as needed. Sort of makes one wish Hilton would ease the pain by not deducting points until ~a week before the stay (which is one of the best features of the Marriott program).

Unfortunately there has been another unannounced standard room reward change – DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Suzhou, China is now 20,000 points per night (up from 10,000 points per night). I've added this property to the wiki.

Hi all,

Before taking off, wanted to let you know that Amazon Shop with Points is expected to launch next week. I've asked for someone on the team to share an update on FT once this new benefit is officially live. Stay tuned!

Thanks!

It appears that two Cat 2 hotels in the Illinois area have been stealthily increased to Cat 3. At the rate Hilton is going I expect to see Cat 1/2 property levels completely disbanded with-in the next year or two.

Just added Hampton Inn and Suites Las Vegas Airport to the wiki (another stealth devaluation identified by Insideflyer.co.uk)

I just want to comment on the SAD, SAD state of affairs that the value of HH points have become, now worth pretty much steadily around 0.3-0.4 cents per point, basically useless...They are even below the pathetic .5 cent/point valuation they used to have.

Nice perk, HH...

I think if you add in the 12 to 14% hotel tax and the resort fee on top of the room rate, it comes very close to 0.5 cent per point.

If you are using them at 0.3 to 0.4 cents per point, you are wasting your points. I have booked 3 hotels in Italy and Austria for this month, which is pretty much as off season as you can get and have gotten 0.59, 0.63 and 0.95 cents per point. Being able to use cash and points under the old system might have allowed me to leverage for higher values if it had been available, but I still would never use points for a stay that only got me 0.3 to 0.4 cents per point.

That's true, but still pathetic, it is .5 at best. I obviously don't use anything at .3 or .4, I pay cash, even .5 I avoid, I try for .6 or higher, but hard to find these days...
