Sunrise Lodge, Hilton Grand Vacations {US-UT}
Looking at the Hilton website, there will be a Hilton Grand Vacation opening in Park City in Nov. 2012. Does anyone know anything about this resort, and if it would be possible to use points for a stay there during the Xmas period?

HGV is taking over a property at Canyons Resort that has never been occupied. It is next to the Hyatt. Perhaps it had been marked for Hyatt expansion of a Hyatt timeshare, but it never fleshed out. They are still hiring staff, and supposedly don't yet have their occupancy certificate. It'll be interesting to see if they do open in time for Canyons opening day (NOV. 23)...

Many of the HGVC do not participate in rewards - Valdoro Mountain Lodge in Breckenridge and HGV Suites on South Beach as examples. I wouldn't hold out hoping to use points.

I stayed at the Hyatt at Canyons and it was great. Service was not as good as the Waldorf, but the location to the mountain was much better.
Thanks for your comments, the number they have on the website goes straight to Hilton reservations that doesnt know much about the place.

If anyone receives a promo for HGV Park City please post it here!
I was called last week with HGV promo rates for Oahu and Vegas, but neither really appealed. Canyons is not the best location in Park City but better than staying in SLC.

Sunrise Lodge, a Hilton Grand Vacations Club Park City Utah
MODS: I did a search and could not find a thread related to this new build hotel, please consolidate if I'm wrong.
I recently stayed at this new hotel, which opened in October of 2012. The hotel is also vacation club (which means it's some type of timeshare), other smarter FT'ers, can share what that means. But a new property and part of the Hilton family I thought I'd start a thread so others can share their experiences as I have mine.
I stayed here in May 2013 for two nights, I had booked a Queen Fireplace Room, and that is exactly what I received. I did ask if there was a better room available and the agent said I was in a very nice room. Once I saw it I would sort of agree, it was a nice room, but based on the website there are nice ones including 1 and 2 bedroom suites with full kitchens. That being said I was not disappointed, but hoped as a diamond I would get some kind of upgrade. I don't know for sure if the hotel was 100% full but based on the light activity I saw, I would think it was not full.
The hotel itself was very nice, modern and very clean. What would you expect from a 7 month old hotel. The location near the top of the Canyon's Resort in Park City offered a good location with great views of the mountains and the valley. I've got to imagine in winter or summer this area is hopping.
The rooms are nicely appointed, with granite counter tops, kitchenettes, balconies with seating, sofas, two TV's and well-designed bathrooms and lots of woodwork. Even though my room was small to midsize it was well laid out and very comfortable.
As for the hotel it was also nice too, and had a really great lodge feel. The lobby was large with some seating and could be a nice meeting place for friends. What it did lack was a bar or food area. It did have a free coffee bar with a few nice options and a LARGE fireplace, so for that I give it a thumbs up.
Amenities wise it has an outdoor pool, hot tub and gym. Although I saw the pool, I didn't run buy any of the other amenities. What it was missing was a restaurant or convenience store so if you wanted food, go someplace else and no room service. In a resort that may not feel like a big deal, but if you wanted food you'd need to go to the Hyatt or one of the three close by restaurants (if they are open).
Below are a few pictures of the room and of the lobby, if you want to see more pictures check out my Blog.

Pros:
Great ski in/out (150) feet from the lifts
Well-designed rooms with lodge like feel
In a modern resort area
Cons:
No food or drink options
Unapparent Hilton Honors Diamond amenities
Mandatory Valet Parking $15

Room upgrades aren't one of the benefits for Diamonds at HGVC resorts like this one. http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/explor...its/index.html
HGVC is a points-based timeshare programmed owned by Hilton. I've stayed at many of the resorts and outside of the huge resorts in Orlando and Vegas, I haven't seen one with a restaurant since they are condos.
Thanks for the review! I'm hoping to trade-in points to get out there next spring to check it out!

Also, up the road at Park City Mountain Resort, they have alpine slides, alpine coaster, a smaller zip line, a kid zone with small kid activities (climbing maze, ropes, etc.)
