Celebrate the Ongoing Parade of Pride Festivities Through October

Marriott press release:

http://news.marriott.com/2017/06/cel...ities-october/

"While June marks the official LGBTQ Pride Month, celebrations continue throughout the year in cities across the U.S., Latin America and Canada. Marriott International recently sponsored the Capital Pride Parade in Washington, DC through its #LoveTravels initiatives; hotels in Mexico City, Guadalajara and São Paulo had rainbow illuminations to celebrate Pride; and hotels in Toronto, Canada celebrated during Pride Toronto. Hotels will continue to celebrate the LGBTQ community through participation in some of this year’s upcoming Pride activations.

These 10 vibrant destinations have night parades and street festivals to celebratory hotel packages:

* San Diego, CA: July 14-16, Westin San Diego
* Vancouver, Canada: August 6, Delta Hotels Vancouver Downtown Suites
* Montréal, Canada: August 10-20, Springhill Suites Old Montreal
* Chicago, IL: August 12-13, Westin Chicago River North & Renaissance Chicago
* Austin, TX: August 18-26, Element Austin Downtown
* Charlotte, NC: August 26-27, Charlotte Marriott City Center
* Dallas, TX: September 16, Dallas Marriott City Center
* Atlanta, GA: October 13-15, W Atlanta Midtown
* Orlando, FL: October 14, Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando, Autograph Collection
* Las Vegas, NV: October 20, SLS Las Vegas

(Sharon's note: more details re: activities, etc, can be found in the press release link)

"Launched in 2014, #LoveTravels brings to life Marriott’s longstanding commitment to ensuring every person is valued and welcomed whenever they enter the doors of its hotels. It serves as a platform for sharing diverse perspectives on the importance of travel, including those of Jason Collins, Geena Rocero, Tim Howard Angela Simmons, Diane Guerrero and Diego Boneta. The cornerstone of Marriott’s culture is its ‘put people first’ philosophy coupled with its belief that everyone deserves a welcome. Just weeks before marriage equality became the law of the land nationwide, #LoveTravels hosted the wedding of George Carrancho and Sean Franklin in Washington, DC’s Capital Pride Parade, with TV personality Ross Mathews as officiant. The campaign has also raised donations for recent immigrants at the Open Arms Community Center in South Florida."

The premise itself is prejudicial, based on fear of a Mormon owner Marriott corporation rather than the non-Mormon owned Starwood corporation.

Hence, logic has gone out the window. Replaced largely with fear and prejudice. The LGBT community is so accustomed to being the victim of fear and prejudice that its members aren't always good at recognizing when they might suffer from the same vices.

Starwood hotels seem just as gay friendly under Marriott management control as they were before the merger. At least this one is!

Your original thread post and thread title asks a question in a public forum. I merely answered it and challenged the underlying premise of your question.

That's called discussion--not kowtowing to the assumption you presented. This has nothing to do with approval.

If you're not prepared for different opinions or to challenges to the premise of your question, then one wonders why you posted the question in the first place.

Looking for validation while not being open to contrary opinions is what characterizes the rightwing and the Trump administration. It should never characterize a freethinking discussion by people who consider themselves liberal.
