Duty Free at FRA

Hi,

I am flying LH on DUB-FRA-DEL route. I have about 6 hour halt on flt to DEL and 2.5 hrs on return leg.

Just wondering, will I get duty free rates on return leg at FRA? or as my destination is within Europe, I will have to pay duty paid rates? If I buy liquor at DEL, wil security at FRA allow it carry on luggage on FRA-DUB flight?

I recently flew AF to IAD (via CDG). On return leg, I was unable to purchase duty free alcohol as security at CDG wont allow me to carry in onboard to DUB and I did not have access to duty free rates at CDG.

Will I be in similar situation with FRA?

Thanks for your help

No idea if your arriving BP from DEL allows you to purchase duty-free goods in FRA, but you may want to check this recent post about taking duty-free liquids purchased in another airport through FRA security.

As far as I know every shop in FRA also offers duty free on arrival with your international BP. At least I have used this a lot in the past to avoid schlepping my articles during my whole journey.

I don't know what booze you're buying, or what the current prices are like in Dublin, but the Heinemann monopoly in German duty free means that alcohol prices are not necessarily any cheaper than in a supermarket. This is, of course, not universally true, but I would check prices first:

While flying into India, I will look at prices in FRA, if they are expensive, I can always purchase booze at arrivals duty free in DEL. This will be gift for friends and family in India.

Its the return leg that I am not sure what to do, anyways, if alcohol is expensive at FRA, I will buy it from DEL on return leg. It has been confirmed I can carry a 1L liquid in sealed duty free bags.

for the benefit of fellow passengers, sharing my experience.

I bought 1L from DUB in tamper proof bag. security at FRA inspected the bill and did not object to me carrying bottle in cabin. FRA airport was extremely expensive, so I bought 1L at arrivals duty free at DEL.

On return leg, I bought 1L at DEL. The cashier at DEL folded the bill before placing it in tamper proof bag, so security staff had bit trouble reading the bill, other than that it was OK.
