It really depends on who you are and where you're interests lie.
I agree - but looking at the OP's idea for a busy schedule it seems leisurely meanders through the old quarter are not high up on their list !
London is a good arrival point for doing Europe with Eurostar onto the continental train network a good way of seeing the country without the hassle of airports.

This is a bit old (2013) but London comes out on top:

Bed nights might be a misleading figure as all the business travelers will be thrown into that as well.

Anyway, I guess this goes nowhere. Let's conclude London is worth a visit, so are other places

The two are different and both are worth visiting for what they have to offer. I do my best to enjoy each place I visit for what it has to offer. Do I like some places more than others? Absolutely! Will someone else see it the way I do? Probably not, c'est la vie.

Thanks for the restaurant tip!

The reason we are not doing London in this busy trip is because it has a special place for me. I have been to London and absolutely love it. We are planning a separate 10-15 day trip where we'll chill in London and Scotland only :-)

cheers!
