Delta forces ExpertFlyer to remove Elite Upgrade availability
Just got this email from ExpertFlyer:
WTH Delta!?
Dear ExpertFlyer Subscriber,
As of today, Delta has requested that we remove the visibility of the DL elite upgrade classes (RU/OU) from ExpertFlyer.com. As such, your Flight Alerts for these 2 classes can no longer check for availability in those classes so their status has been changed to Expired so they do not count against your available alert allocation.
If you would like to send feedback to Delta regarding their decision and how it may affect you, please use the following link to email them. Delta Email Feedback
As always, thank you for your support of ExpertFlyer.

Kind of ironic that the airlines want customers drawn to their own websites (for upsells, etc) but then their websites are down sometimes for hours at a time, like yesterday.

That would render EF useless for me. It also increases the workload for DL agents as I never call until I see a SWU is available.
I find that spoonfeeding the agents really helps.
As of right now they still show available so we shall see.

I'm always a little confused by these.
EF says DL has "requested" that ExpertFlyer "remove the visibility" of these classes, which to me reads much differently than "Delta has stopped publishing these classes to our data source". Why doesn't EF just tell DL to get bent?

Oh good....then my $4.99 was not wasted! Of course I have only been able to use 1 of 6 SWU's as desired this year. The other 5 I burned on short domestic legs where I probably would have been upgraded anyway.

This is very disappointing news. I suspect DL is trying to decrease the number of STCs and STSs, thinking that many people use that option just to improve their chance of an upgrade.
