Have no idea if this will work, but when printing FedEx labels have had similar problems. For that I checked the "Print background images" box and then the barcode printed.

Last week I asked Customer Service about this. Their response:
Thank you for your email to Delta. I apologize for the delay in
responding to your message.
As long as the voucher number and expiration date is printed on the
coupon, there should be no issues for you wife redeeming those on board
her flights next month.
