Yeah, I would have liked to seen another row of F on the 717. The way the current upgrade structure works, it really should be 83 seats of First, 15 seats of Economy Comfort, and 12 seats of Economy. It's pretty ridiculous these days trying to get an upgrade as a Platinum. I got more upgrades as an NW Silver than I do now. Just crazy.

Lower Costs

The CR9 is a lower cost plane than the E175 in every way. It burns less fuel and has a lower Cost Per Seat and a lower Cost Per Trip. I too prefer to be a passenger on the E175, but it is a surprisingly inefficient aircraft considering it was clean sheet design only about a decade ago.

Routes?

Anyone know where the new planes are flying? Searches on DL.com, even many months into the future, yield nothing.

A search found a couple threads in the PMNW forum.

Looks like ATL-EWR past 9/19 is the only find so far.

Unfortunately the 739 isn't on the BOS-SLC routes... and in fact a flight I'm on that had a 738 got down-gauged to an A320. Ugh, 5 hrs on a pos with no power or even overhead video.

Oh and I don't think that info about different A320 variants is still applicable or matters, since those threads are 8+ yrs old.

That's not correct.

Actually, only 1L door, but not 2L door.

Actually, there are indeed some airlines that use the 2L door on the A321. Not using it due to it being too close to port engine is a US Airways policy, and not all A321 operators follow it.

Here is to hoping that one of the first few upsizes when the 717s enter service (and the other a/c shuffle around in the system) is the plane doing the rotation which includes the 5pm-ish flight from IAD/Dulles to DTW. That 5pm IAD-DTW CRJ flight seems to always be full with a terrible stuffy cabin.

Haven't seen it mentioned, but it looks as if we'll see 110V power on every seat on each of these planes, not just F and EC seats -- am I wrong?

Now, I have to hope they install a system that doesn't overload when a 15" MacBook Pro is plugged in. Was just flying from AMS-DTW and as soon as I'd plug my machine in the power would die, presumably from sucking too much juice. The wife's 13" MacBook Air (smaller power adapter) managed just fine.

I plug my 15" MBP in all the time, at least whenever I need to use it and there are power ports available (hit-or-miss on the 73Hs, since they all have USB but only some have AC power).

Apparently early November for the 739ER entry into service. No word on city pairs yet.

In case anyone's interested, the first aircraft has already positioned out of RNT to BFI.

Endeavor (formerly Pinnacle), wholly owned by DL, is committed to getting rid of ALL of their CRJ-200's and replace them with new CRJ-900's. They are starting to move four 200's a month to the desert and bring three 900's a month into service.
