Wonder if Oceania is at least on par with Silversea .
Will be sailing Nautica in Oct .
If ok , may cruise to Alaska with either of them . Unless figure out better / best small line by decision time .
Looking forward after 30 years . Hope glaciers have not shrunk drastically since !

Food on recent Silver Whisper transatlantic was the best I've experienced. Far superior to recent Seabourn and Regent cruises we've taken. Sea Dream food is very good but beef seems to be frozen not fresh. Dry even when properly cooked.

Does this mean that you believe there is a cruise line serving beef that has not been previously frozen?

Just been on our maiden Oceania cruise on Nautica . We were pleasantly surprised at the quality & variety of daily cuisine . Our cruise mates too agreed that it was worth taking the voyage just for the meals
All of us liked our suites staterooms & the ports of call .
Looking forward to sailing with them again .

That is good to know. Jim and I are on Silver Whisper next November, Barbados-Amazon-Barbados, 18 days.

And this statement is overly broad/vague.

Who is "all"

What is "best"

??

One point hasn't been mentioned.........if you are a solo cruiser, Crystal offers a fantastic value. Their routine single supplement is far, far lower than on any other luxury line (by "routine" I mean on every sailing, not just on unpopular voyages on sale for a limited time).

I've done 2 Crystal cruises and loved them -- the average age is far above me (53), but the piano bar seems to be hopping after 11, and the after dinner shows seem always full (personally, I could never stay up late enough for the piano bar entertainment). I guess I don't care because I'm as likely to strike up a conversation with someone who's 75, 55, or 35....Doesn't matter much to me. My two cruises have been transoceanic, so I'm actually glad I wasn't on too small a ship The 850-900 passengers on my voyages was just right.
