For questions on NEW applications for US Airways cards please use this thread:
USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K Bonus; AF not waived

Official: 10k annual bonus for existing cardholders will continue beyond 2014

We will leave this thread open for questions from existing cardholders who applied using offers with the perpetual annual 10k bonus. Otherwise, please post on the ongoing thread on standard offers:
Current Offers: USAirways cards with no annual mileage bonus

Current Links:
30k + 10k anniversary + no annual fee for the first year (now says "Offer expired"); terms and conditions include offer specifics
[NOTE: Barclays is erratically enforcing the restriction "for Preferred members only," especially for those who leave off a membership number on the application. See recent experiences reported in the thread.]

There is a separate thread for a 40k+10k offer with $89 annual fee, no anniversary bonus: USAirways CC special Offer 40K + 10K BT Bonus; AF not waived

Expired Links:
30k at signup, 10k anniversary bonus, 10k with balance transfer, no fee first year - Landing Page (Ended 4/30/14)
Older 35K Link (older link not working)
Newer 35K Link (click on terms and conditions to see 35K bonus after first purchase, first year fee waived, and 10K anniversary bonus)

1) I applied for this card but got the message
We apologize for the inconvenience, but our website is experiencing technical issues.
Please contact us at 1-866-419-6437 or try again later.
What does this mean? What should I do?

Check your application status by visiting http://www.myapplicationstatus.com/

At Barclays, if you already have an online account, the card can also show up there before you get a notification from them. Obviously, that won't work if you don't yet have an online Barclays account from another card. But if it's not your first US card, you presumably do have an online account already.

2) What's the reconsideration line number?

866-408-4064. Only open M>F, 8am>5pm, Eastern.

3) How long after my first purchase does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles for the first-purchase bonus post with the statement showing the initial purchase.

4) For those people who got the targeted offer, how long after spending $750 in each of the 3 months does it take for the bonus miles to post in my account?

Miles posts two months after the end of the promotion period. For example, if your promo was to spend in June, July and August, the 15k bonus would post with October statement.

5) How can I get the anniversary 10K bonus points without paying the annual fee?

The annual bonus posts on the statement date of the month of anniversary. No need to "kick out" a statement. But if you are worried, you can put a few bucks on the card during that cycle thus generate a statement but it is NOT necessary.

AF is billed the last business day of the month of the anniversary (much better than Chase practice which is on the 1st day of the month). You have 60 days to cancel the card for the AF to be reversed. You also can use SM to cancel card and no need to call.

Note: I called to cancel the card (June, 2014), told them it was because the AF was too high, and they waived it. Still got the 10,000 points and the Companion Certs!!

Another data point.

1st card opened ~ 28 months back (still open)
Got denied last year, when I tried to apply for the card again.
Tried again today, and got auto approved. (haven't done AOR's in a while, just selectively applying for cards once in a while)

Where did you find the 30K link? Or you meant you applied for the 40K fee not waived card? If so you posted your data pt on the wrong thread.

Overlapping offers update

In late May I got the 15K / $750 spend for Jun, Jul & Aug offer, and then 2 weeks later the same card got another identical offer but for Jul, Aug and Sept. I spent ONE required amount in Jun, Jul, Aug and Sept.

The first 15K posted in Oct statement, the second 15K posted in Nov statement. 4 consecutive month spend at $750+ and earned 30K in total. ^

So if you are lucky to get overlapping offers or different offers but for the same period, you dont need to spend twice but make sure your spend would cover the duration of all promotions.

Boy, and I thought I was lucky.

Now that's what I call a good one. Have not heard of that one before. Great for you.

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

How do I identify if my card comes with recurring 10k anniversary bonus?

Data point - my card was opened roughly 01/2014.

Call or send a secure message to the bank? Since nobody except yourself would have known WHICH offer you signed up?

Thanks.

So it basically tiers with the application you apply, but not a standard feature.

Yes. But be aware. I called last year to verify about my anniversary miles and was told incorrectly that my card did not qualify. You are better off writing a secure message so you have it in writing.

Also as you annual fee approaches Barclays will send you a card telling what benefits are changing and what remains the same for your card. If you have the annual anniversary bonus miles it will state that you will continue to enjoy.

This is great to know. Thanks for the update. I got the same offers for August, Sept, and Oct and also for Sept, Oct, and Nov. Spent $750 in each of the 4 months. I am now waiting for 15k +15k miles.

My wife has the same exact card but only got the second offer.

Congrats on that rare double dip opp!

You will see the first 15K in Dec, and then the second 15K in Jan. You dont even need to spend anything during Dec and Jan - a statement would generate just for the purpose of posting the 15K bonus miles. Isn't this sweet?

My statement closed on 12/23 with the 10,000 annual bonus miles on the statement but they weren't posted to the US Air FF account until 12/31. just a FYI.

DW received an email this week announcing two new(?) card benefits:
  • no FTF
  • 25% discount on US & AA in-flight purchases of food/drink/headsets

I have a vague memory of seeing the second mentioned here earlier, but the first one seems new to me. Apologies if I'm repeating old news.

Now you can enjoy purchases with no foreign transaction fees when you use your US Airways Dividend Miles® MasterCard® in Dublin, Paris, or Shanghai. In fact, no matter where you shop abroad, you'll enjoy this new benefit.
25% Statement Credit for In-Flight Purchases: Cardmembers in good standing will qualify for a 25% savings on eligible in-flight purchases. Eligible purchases include the in-flight purchase of food, beverages, and headsets on US Airways or American Airlines when purchased on their Account. Savings does not apply to any other in-flight purchases, such as wireless internet access, SkyMall™, DutyFree, or In-Flight Entertainment. This offer is available on eligible flights as long as supplies last. This benefit will not be available for travel on codeshare flights booked with a US Airways or American Airlines flight number but operated by another airline. This savings will appear as an Account statement credit 6-8 weeks after the transaction is posted to the Cardmember's Account.

When you logged in, you will see a pop up window touting the 0% forex fee benefit. It is now on all US cards. In our household only the 50K $89 fee card opened in Dec got the email but when I logged in, if your US card is set as default, you will see a pop up window that touts the 0% FTF benefit.

The 25% discount benefit has come out last Dec but the 0% FTF is brand new benefit which the regular Citi AA card does not have - so that is a serious competitive assult from Barclays to retain its customers.

Has anyone had any experience submitting a claim for trip cancellation insurance, particularly concerning physical illness. I got a serious virus and had to cancel a trip, and the $250 plane ticket was non-refundable. Going to see a doctor on Tuesday, so I'll have documentation. I saw where to submit the claim, but I was wondering if these things are typically denied (especially since I'm going to see a Dr several days later vs going to an ER, and also because it's likely only a virus and not a heart attack).

Head's up - just received another bonus offer. Some history:

2/13 - Approved for new card. Made one purchase for the bonus and put the card away.
4/13 - Received 750/3 for 15k offer. Completed spend, bonus posted.
2/14 - Called "to cancel" with AF due. Had already received 10k anniversary miles. Got the AF cut by 66%.
2014 - Put a few charges on the card here and there, mainly due to a 2X on gas offer. Last transaction was in 12/14.

1/15 - Received new offer for 15k points after spending more than $500 in Feb / Mar / Apr. My AF is due in Feb and the T&C state that in order to qualify for the 15k bonus, you must pay your AF (it's even in bold). That said, put the spend on the card plus the 10k anniversary miles means 25k miles for $89 - pretty sweet deal. A second card would be better but I've tried twice and it isn't happening with Barclays.
