Then don't look at the Manhattan rental market. You'd be lucky to get a 500sf studio at that price in most neighborhoods.

Yep, NYC and SFO are the only two places were prices are more than SAN. Of course, incomes are higher in those places, but the disparity is huge in SAN.

Passed an open house in Salsalito with a really ugly tiny rancher with a $950K price tag.

Price doesn't bother me in NY nearly as much as the taxes for the privledge of living here.

My recent trip to the New York area served to reinforce for me that I am not meant to live there. That isn't to say that it isn't a nice or cool place; quite the contrary. But it isn't for me.
