============================================

[/b] 50 + 5k offer for personal card. Requires MileagePlus login; redirects to https://www.theexplorercard.com/50kAFW
  • 50k miles after $3000 spend within first 3 months
  • 5k miles for adding an authorized user
  • No annual fee first year
  • No FTF
  • Each calendar year, you are eligible to receive one 10,000-mile bonus after you reach $25,000 in net purchases on your Card.

For discussion of card benefits, see the master thread in the United forum.
My math says a 50K offer. Where do the extra points come from?
The extra 5000 points come from adding an authorized user after you have been approved for the card.
Is there a business card?
Yes, and Flyertalk has a thread devoted to the business card: United business card: 50k+10k united miles
Can I apply for this card and earn the bonus after doing so previously?
See the wiki and related discussion in Applying for Chase Credit Cards- May 2015-Present

I also SM ed and get this offer:

Here?s a summary of your request:
? We understand you applied for an offer that provides
30,000 bonus miles when you submitted your application in
March 2014.
? You let us know that you are interested in an offer
that provides 50,000 bonus miles plus a $50 statement
credit. That offer awards the bonus miles after you spend
$1,000 in the first three months your account is open.

Please contact us when you have spent $1,000 in the first
three months your account is open so we can add the
additional 20,000 bonus miles to your account to match the
new offer.

Seems that only need to spend $1000 in order to get the additional 20k miles.

As a reminder, here?s how you can earn 30,000 bonus miles:
? You will receive 30,000 bonus miles after you spend
$1,000 in the first 3 months your account is open and a
$50 statement credit after your first purchase. You will
see these bonus miles post to your account six-to-eight
weeks from the date the spending requirement is met.
? You can also earn 5,000 bonus miles after you add an
authorized user to your account and make a purchase with
your card during the first three months as a Cardmember.

? You can also earn 10,000 bonus miles when you spend
$25,000 or more on your card each calendar year.

Please keep in mind that all enrollment offers are for
new, first-time United MileagePlus Explorer credit card
members only. This means we reserve the right to withhold
adding any enrollment miles if you have previously
received them on the same product on a previous date.

If you have any further questions, please reply using the
Secure Message Center.

Thank you"

This response seems a little odd to me...why would I need to contact them again after the spend in order to add the additional 20K? Shouldn't they set the account up now if I'm elegible and they know when I hit the spend threshold? Thanks!

I went to a Chase branch, they called the card services dept. and said you can never get the bonus if you gotten it before.

But then the branch called and left me a message that I have a "good chance" of getting the bonus since they targeted me.

So I don't know if I should go for it anyways. Have a couple of trips coming up and since there's no forex, it would be good for using overseas.

OTOH, I would get double points using my CSP instead.

Quick question, searched thread but couldn't find an answer.

If I charge a UA flight to this card and cancel it before I fly, what are the chances I still get the benefits (free checked bag, priority boarding)? Thanks!

I'm in the process of booking a flight on United, and there's a message that says: Reminder You must purchase your ticket with your eligible MileagePlus Credit Card to receive your bag service charge benefit.

How recent is this? It used to be you got the benefit as long as you entered your MP account number, but I haven't flown United since the middle of last year.

I don't see why you wouldn't be able to. I haven't specifically applied for the United personal and business cards on the same day, but I've done other Chase personal and business cards on the same day successfully.

I believe some of the blogs have discussed that this req came out when the Explorer and Club cards were introduced.

ex. If you book an award ticket, you'll need to pay the taxes with your Mileage CC in order to get the waived baggage charge (assuming you're non-elite and getting the benefit from the CC). You can no longer just flash your Mileage Plus CC when you check-in at the airport.

I've tried everything to get 50K offer but no luck, but I did receive a targeted email for 40K points after 2k in spending along with 5k authorized user. Good deal? I could maybe try SM to Chase for the 10k and $50 statement after I apply for this card.

Have a look at your local Chase Branch. Last year I also could not get the higher offer on-line. When you apply at the branch you type in the info yourself just like at home. I grabbed the no first year fee Club card and my wife got the 50+5 Explorer card. Real easy.

Something surprising - I applied for both the personal & business cards within moments of each other. They approved personal but on calling reconsideration line, they don't even see an application for the business card. Will check up tom morning again

How long has it been taking for the card to arrive?

They say 7-10 business days but hopefully it's sooner than that?

I'm on the West Coast if that makes a difference.

It seems to be completely random at times. I wanted to apply a month ago, and no matter what I tried, couldn't get it to show me anything more than 30K. So I applied for something else in that AOR instead.

4 weeks to the day later, and I get a targeted mailout for 50k miles with signup. And, of course, it expires before my next AOR. Ah well.

Chase UA products, no smart chip?

I was shocked to learn they don't offer a smart chip. Does anyone know if they intend to roll one out? Kind of defeats the purpose of using it internationally with no foreign transaction fee. Thanks
